As the title states. I am not fully clear on which skill the “advertise business” action depends. This can be done on PC once a day after reaching 2 Stars but it seems quite random to me if it succeeds or fails. I also kind of noticed that I had more customers after it succeeded and a little less than normal when it failed.
I first thought it might depend on Rhetoric, but now my Zoi has Level 10 in Rhetoric and it still fails 1/3rd of the time.
And the tooltip appearing above the Zois head actually also does not really tell you. Here is when it fails:

Has any of you found out?
Or is it really purely luck based / random?
My combined business (flower-cafe) has 2 stars. The first advertisement was successful, many Zoi came. The second advertisement was unsuccessful, there were fewer Zoi. I think that advertising is random and doesn’t depend on anything.

I’m really looking forward to changes in the business system. Right now it’s broken. I specifically created a building that separates a cafe and flowers. I was hoping I could avoid the issue with food being placed on flower stands. But no… Zoi, the hired worker, carries food across the street into the flower shop, ignoring the food stands that are right next to the kitchen. I’ll wait for a fix. As for my created houses — I don’t want to place them on Canvas while players’ copyrights are being violated. My opinion: for now, it’s not worth trying to understand the logic of the business system. I think it will be reworked in the future.
@NyushaDm I am unfortunately trying to understand it as I started to take notes for my business guide… But I fully and completely agree with you. Currently it is just terrible how some things work and I really hope they fix the bugs like the one you mentioned where food and flowers are placed in the wrong displays. This breaks the immersion but at least this is only a visual bug. Unfortunately we also have:

not able to sell whole dishes anymore

item quality is not always scaling and even excellent or perfect dishes are sold for the price of a good dish

employees overwriting already displayed items and thus waste money

employees do not follow the tasks which they were given

Zois clear up full display cases when clearing up a table near to the display case

And in my game right now, there’s very often an action where a hired employee or business operator abandons their started work (cooking food, arranging a bouquet) and goes wandering around, and then continues the started work. It doesn’t prevent me from making good profit, but it looks strange.

The issue you mentioned with abandoning tasks happens for me as well but not very often.
I hope they fix this soon! Since the new business they’re promising us won’t be able to operate with these bugs. It would be really funny if a hairdresser just abandons their client and goes wandering around!

This happens at home as well.
There appears to be a timer on how long food is allowed to be on display (either on a table a counter or in a business) it is not always the same but usually is about 12 hours or so, give or take. Two things can happen… Either a zoi cleans nearby as you said. Either cleaning their own plates of the table nearby or even using a cleaning equipment near the counter (some cleaning equipment have HUGE cleaning radius with my stay at home mom).
This makes it impossible to serve 2-3 meals or a meal with a plate of cookies and leaving it over for the family to pick from… So not only zois are stupid in their eating logic still to this day even with devs telling us they improved it in 0.7.0, but now we have to contend with “accidental cleaning” deleting food.
They better get this fixed ASAP before version 1.0.0 or the meltdown from normie players will be of an epic scale.
I guess I’ll go post my food logic on this week’s brainstorm again. I really wanted them to focus on the broken needs for anything but the 48min time/day setting… But I just can’t let the food logic slide… it’s so annoying.
