As per current setup we are only able to hire Zois as employees which we a) know and which b) do not already have a job. This is generally fine, but what I am really missing is the option to search for specific employees. At the moment most Zois which are up for selection have the wrong skillset.
Let’s say you want an employee who has high Gardening to make Flower arrangements, as second task you want him to craft coffe and as third task restock cooked dishes. So you would prefer to have an employee with skills in all these 3 areas. But you will never get that in the offered Zoi list. Best I have seen is that a Zoi has 2 of the needed skills at once. And often they have a third skill which is high in e.g. Art or Media Production or whatever else which you are not searching for. But if you hire this employee you will end up paying more for him / her because of the high skillset which you partly don’t need.
My suggestion therefore would be to offer us an option to post vacancies for a certain skillset you need. Maybe you would have to wait a day or 2 until you get applications in. Maybe even you would need to meet them for an interview etc. (something like this is planned for the careers, so why not implement it also for owned businesses). But this would be totally worth it. You would pay more for a perfectly fitting employee with the right skillset but then you really get what you need for your business.
Let me know if you also agree? I really think this would be nice and easy to implement addition to the business system.
Or maybe pay of your own pocket to “Retrain” an employee.
They learn skills you want (at your expense) but in return they would be more loyal to the business.
Now what loyal is could be they consider you as a work BFF.
Just an Idea as I was thinking the world was a far better place when businesses invested in their employees to both train them and keep them.
What great suggestions. Job vacancies, interviews, and possibly trial periods — and the hired employee could decide for themselves whether the job satisfies them and quit on their own . And I really like the suggestion that companies should invest in their employees (or provide external training) as well.
I like the idea of retraining the employee as well @Samuriko
Would be great to have both options. Hire what you need right away or e.g. get a low level skilled Employee and send him / her on training or train yourself. Being a real mentor to somebody actually also in real life often results in a real friendship.
@Taibak trail period is also a good idea. We could throw all of the employees out who are permanenty cooking and baking even if they are supposed to do other stuff No, just joking as this bug is so annoying… But that would be a great addition. Work for a couple of days and then have a meeting after business hours to see if it fits from both sides. You would need to build up a relationship within these days to have better chances that the employee likes to work in your shop etc.
Having both hiring options, either ready-skilled staff or trainable juniors, adds a lot more flexibility. The mentoring part is especially nice too, it can really improve both skill growth and team relationships.
And yeah, a short trial period before fully committing sounds like a fair way to see if it’s a good fit on both sides
