Some animations feel unrealistic or exagerated

I have to start with prefacing that I LOVE the animations of all these amazing interactions in inZOI (that I can only dream of in Sims 4) - I’m sooo happy we have gym equipment and drums and surf boards, and cars - this is a dream come true!! And I love so many animations you made, love watching my Zoi at the computer, or when working out, doing yoga, etc. Beautiful!!

But while enjoying the game, some animations did feel so exagerated that they hinder immersion and make me feel like the game could use a bit of fine tuning there. I’d love to give feedback on those:

  1. Conversation on bench: When 2 Zois sit on a bench, they don’t look at each other while speaking? And they speak at the same time, instead of alternating. Sometimes one of the zois also don’t have a mouth animation at all, but they have speaking sounds. → Let them alternate, and have them look into each others eyes for more realism, plus move their mouth to the speech.
  2. Conversation reactions: The happy reactions of Zois in conversation is a bit too exagerated, they clap and jump, which is not what people do when they just met. It feels more matching to kids, but not to adults. Can we tune it down and make it a bit more realistic with facial expressions instead of clapping?
  3. Conversation topics: There is no simple “Hi, how are you”? I have to start a conversation with talking about coffee beans - that doesnt feel realistic  Can we add just a simple “Hi, how are you?”
  4. Finding collectibles excitement (before Cahaya) : When finding a mineral in the sand on the beach, my Zoi made an animation that looked like she won at a competition against someone. It felt too exagerated, I would have expected a more curious facial expression with a smile, looking at what she found, instead of a winner pose.
  5. Dance: I was missing dance styles that look a bit more female, soft and elegant - all the options are very posing, like a dance competition or presentation, and not like usual people actually dance when they are hearing music at home or in an elegant lounge.
  6. Walking while adjusting shoe: The shoe adjustment animation is really cute, it just happens too often and then feels a bit unnatural. It would fit to someone who is clumsy, but my Zoi is a put together business woman, it doesn’t fit that she constantly adjusts her shoe  Maybe we can make this animation less frequent for Zois that are not clumsy, or make it more related to where they are, like on the beach, or when they are changing terrains
  7. Eating: I love the cooking animations, but the eating is unfortunately not so immersive. They don’t actually bite off or have the fork in their mouth, and they often don’t even open the mouth when eating (like at the fire when eating marshmallows). We hear chewing sounds, but the mouth doesn’t move the same way. We see our Zois eat so often, I think it’s worth investing into improving the facial animation for eating.

There are a lot more, I will need to add to this list over time.

Thank you for considering my feedback :folded_hands:

I fully support all of the above!
I want to add that they chew too loudly! And also, when they chew steak, the chewing sound is like crunchy cabbage.

Yes. I agree with no 6. I hope they remove adjusting shoe animation.
But I’d like to add…. please add some animations for driver/passengers while in vehicles. They looked like frozen statues.

Also, some animations are too soft and gentle, while others are too playful and ‘cutesey’. But they changed the animations up in the new update, so we will see!

Same with boats!! Allow them to engage in conversation and stuff too

The issue of Zois not looking at each other as they speak seems to have been fixed with the cahaya update. I noticed in recent cahaya game play videos that they now look at which ever Zoi they are in conversation with

It’s already fixed now, they look at each other when speaking on a bench

I also love the way they look at other Zois when they pass by.

The screenshot is a bit dark but it shows exactly what I mean ^^’

Hi, I found this topic and I think it still deserves attention despite the significant improvements in the animations. In particular, I would like to highlight points 2 and 4. In my opinion, some of the animations that occur when the zoi are very hungry or very sleepy are too exaggerated and, I would say, annoying because they are accompanied by constant vocal moans from the zoi, such as “Mmmh… aaaahhh…”. This kind of realism is excessive when playing, and it becomes even more annoying when there are several hungry or sleepy NPCs in the area: it becomes a cacophony of moans that almost feels like being among zombies  , and it ruins the immersion a bit. If possible, I would like these animations to be toned down a little.

I completely agree with you. My least favorite animations are when a couple moves to the next stage of a romantic relationship. They start jumping and clapping, which doesn’t feel romantic at all. In those moments it seems like we’re playing as children.

@alenadoga8 Yes, it would be preferable if this cabaret-style approach were toned down, or at least when it does not involve teenagers and children.
