[05.01.26] The Ultimate Celebrity Life (Updated)

Yes, that’s a good idea. I want to add a thought, to be able to prevent Zois from automatically knowing that one of the NPCs is popular. Let the Zoi recognize them through TV, computer, movies, music, etc.

Experience and Analysis

  • Diversification of Celebrities
    • Modern celebrities have diversified beyond just actors and broadcasters to encompass all fields, and I hope InZoi reflects this spirit of the times.
  • Wealth and Politics
    • The fame and influence I’ve observed today seem to bring followers and substantial wealth accordingly.
    • (Through advertising, endorsements, etc.)
  • Morality and Cultural Differences
    • However, when moral issues arise for these celebrities (at least in Korea), it becomes difficult for them to earn as much money as before, and in severe cases, they may not be able to make a comeback. (Hiring a skilled lawyer is important.)
    • Thus, the criteria for downfall appear to vary significantly depending on culture.

Philosophical Thoughts and Other Random Ideas

  • Famous Murderers
    • In reality, murderers have become famous and held weddings in prison, written books, and more.
    • Therefore, fame is not solely determined by high achievement.
    • Rather, it occurs whenever there is an event significant enough to be recognized by the masses (media exposure, etc.).
  • Connection to Credibility and Who Are the Evaluators?
    • In cases other than such dark aspects, fame generally tends to guarantee credibility. (Especially in advertising)
    • Then, who should be the evaluators of such credibility?
    • By what mechanism should the virtual NPC Joeys read and assess credibility?

I agree! I’d hate to have everything stop every time a celebrity walks into the room. It adds very little to gameplay when playing with a celebrity zoi and it completely ruins gameplay when playing with a non-famous zoi.

Hello Kjun and the whole team, :psycat_thumbsup:

Thank you for this message and for this brainstorm.

For the celebrity system, it would be great to have a progressive evolution: starting from nothing, becoming recognized, then truly famous, with visible impact on gameplay.

It would also be interesting to be able to become famous through different careers: writer, athlete, artist, influencer, journalist, etc., with different paths depending on the field.

A few ideas

  • fans who recognize the character and ask for photos

  • public reputation (loved, controversial, scandals…)

  • paparazzi and loss of privacy

  • exclusive events (parties, interviews, red carpet)

  • social networks that influence popularity

  • relationships that evolve according to fame (opportunities, jealousy, fake friends)

It would be good if celebrity brings both advantages (money, opportunities) but also constraints (pressure, rumors, exposure).

Enjoy your day off for Labor Day in Korea, and thank you again for taking the time to share with the community.

Have a great weekend to the whole team :custom_heart:

Personally I think this post makes good points and i would love to be able to see these things happen in my game. At this time the city has the ability to become run down and dirty and even crime ridden, i love this aspect of the game but having these affect the home inside in more ways than just ‘clean’ and ‘repair’, very cool. I think obviously its not for everyone just as a dirty city isnt for everyone for which Kjun and the devs have given us the ability to turn it off all together.

Having more ways to spend money is a huge must and i like the ideas of celebs having some exclusive items, neighbourhoods and places to go like perhaps holiday destinations or very exclusive VVIP spots; perhaps a personal shopper or more household staff. We have bills currently and those ‘taxes’ could increase as you raise in status etc. These are small things but its usually quite a fun challenge to start off your characters life with very little funds and try to build up but there needs to be some challenge to make it worth returning to.

I hope this makes sense

A Celebrity System in inZOI could be far more innovative than what we saw in The Sims’ Fame system. Not just fame and perks, but an advanced social simulation where a character’s popularity changes how the world functions in real time.

Imagine fame based on behavior algorithms, not static bars:

  • NPCs that generate trends based on what you do (fashion, music, scandals).

  • Internal social networks that react with AI: real virality, cancellations, fanbases that evolve.

  • Spontaneous events that affect the city: traffic from concerts, businesses that rise or fall based on your reputation, neighborhoods transformed by your influence.

  • Relationships that aren’t “harder”, but more strategic: alliances, betrayals, leaks, contracts that shift dynamically.

The key would be that fame isn’t a “state”, but a living ecosystem that responds to your choices. That would make the Life mode feel truly unpredictable, emergent, and unique in every playthrough—something inZOI can achieve better than any other simulation game.

Totally agree. I even have a Zoi that lives off state benefits and I still think the wealth and celebrity system needs much more impact in gameplay.

There should be a much more marked difference between a normal Zoi and a celebrity or someone extremely rich. For example, being able to buy or rent luxury boats in Cahaya, having really expensive exclusive cars, mansions with permanent staff, or even hiring bodyguards when your fame level is very high.

It would also be great if celebrities’ “cache” increased with fame and that affected contracts, events, or collaborations. And most importantly, that other Zois actually react when they see you on the street: fans approaching, paparazzi, people asking for photos, preferential treatment in some places, or even criticism and rumors. That would make fame feel alive.

Another thing I’m missing is premium services. Being able to pay for high-level private classes like acting, dancing, singing, personal trainers, or image consultants, and that they actually have a positive impact on your character’s career. Basically, all those “rich people things” we see in real life that would add so much realism and progression to the game hahaha.

I also think it would be interesting if fame wasn’t always positive. Adding aspects like media pressure, loss of privacy, or scandals would make the system feel more realistic and deeper.

In general, I feel like a well-developed celebrity system could make each playthrough feel more alive and unique. Great brainstorm!

When I think celebrity, I think of new furniture and a new town with 1950s-inspired design.

The modeling profession was not mentioned. and there would be crazed fans.

The reputation and celebrity systems would be two separate gauges, and let’s not forget the bouncers to keep the VIP venues secure.

I love this idea, and I think what would make a celebrity system really stand out is if it’s not just about being famous, but about the entire ecosystem around fame, ncluding both conventional and unconventional paths.

For careers, I’d love to see not only actors, musicians, and models, but also the people behind the scenes:

  • Camera operators, sound engineers, producers

  • Hairstylists, makeup artists, stylists

  • Paparazzi as an actual playable role

  • Personal assistants where you manage a celebrity’s life and schedule

I think this would make the world feel much more alive and interconnected.

I’d also love to see modern fame paths:

  • Social media as its own career (not just an add-on)

  • Streaming, vlogging, and live content creation

  • Podcasts where you can actually interview other characters in a studio

  • Influencer-style gameplay like filming in public with a tripod or going live while walking around

On the celebrity side, I’d love deeper lifestyle features:

  • Hiring a personal assistant who can follow you, travel with you, and handle tasks

  • Brand deals, free products, and the ability to launch your own brand

  • Brand trips where multiple influencers/celebrities travel together and create content

  • Collaborations with other celebrities

Social interactions would be really important too:

  • Being recognized naturally (people staring, waving, asking for photos/autographs) instead of constant interruptions

  • Access to VIP areas, red carpets, and exclusive events

  • Systems to manage privacy (ways to avoid paparazzi without just disguises)

I’d also love to see fame connect to other systems:

  • Owning a business and growing it faster because of your fame

  • Crossovers between careers (for example, a musician growing through social media or a model launching a brand)

Overall, I think the goal should be to make fame feel like a different way of playing the game, where your relationships, opportunities, and daily life all change based on your status.

I’m very interested in playing a rags to riches - celebrity editon. Something like starting from from a lowly extra playing a corpse in a low budget production to becoming a global superstar actress, would be fun if there was real career progression and the gameplay was varied and challenging. Or starting as a busking singer in the streets, then getting a job as a live-music performer at a bar/lounge, all the way up to giving a concert in a superstar dome venue.

Just as important as famous zois, are the infamous ones. A celebrity that destroys public property, curses their fans, attacks paparazzi and has a never-ending stream of scandals would be fun to play. Strangely enough I’m also looking forward to playing as a paparazzi (paparazzo?), stalking celebrities for that perfect scandalous photo.

I think there should be a system that can keep track of “skeletons in the closet” of both regular zois and celebrity zois, though it might be more relevant for the celebrities. It would be fun to play a celebrity zoi that is paranoid about/scared of the skeleton being discovered and doing everything they can to keep it concealed, then change characters and play a paparazzi zoi trying hard to expose said skeleton.

One thing someone else mentioned is zois following celebrity trends. It would be cool if zois tried to dress like their favorite celebrity around the town, but only if it was temporary (like a few hours or a day, then they changed back to their original looks). I spend a lot of time trying to make my zois look just right, and I would be extremely annoyed if I saw their outfits changed permanently. I think I might come across this same issue with the hair salons/clothes shop, but I haven’t played with that yet. If so, please make the hair/clothes makeovers being temporay an option for players that like me really, REALLY don’t want their zois appearances changed without their say so.

I think the tax system is great. The more you earn and the more your house costs, the more you pay. Item wear and tear is fine, but not without the possibility of repair—this can make you spend a lot of time on all the objects in the house and in the end it can be frustrating. As for the aesthetics of the home, I’d give it another look. I’m not sure if to the point of it crumbling, but it should influence the neighborhood’s opinion. A neglected house is not a safe or motivating place to visit.

The celebrity system should be combined with the opposite. A paparazzi profession, for example, to monitor the elite or the option to belong to it. The possibility of organizing events to attend both as elite or as an organizer. If I have a museum and want to hold an event where I can invite celebrities, and in turn paparazzi and reporters, as well as an audience. The important thing is that there must be compensation in the system. It would also allow creating VIP zones with exclusive access for the elite, both in lounges and high-end clothing stores, restaurants, etc.

I really love the idea of including celebrities in the game, but I also think it would be great to be able to play from a fan’s perspective. Not just focusing on being a celebrity, but living the whole experience of admiring someone from childhood.

For example, starting as a kid who’s a fan of a specific celebrity, creating fan clubs, attending events or concerts where that star appears, and as your character grows, that influence shapes their personality and goals. It could even inspire them to follow in their idol’s footsteps and develop their own career until they also become a celebrity.

I feel like it would be a really fun and realistic mechanic, because it would add more depth to the characters’ social relationships and personal development. I’d love it if they implemented something like that in the future!

Thank you for creating the opportunity for us to participate in the content and brainstorm about upcoming ideas! It’s truly exciting! Just the other day I thought it would be great to include a fame system, and today I read this!

As a main idea, I can’t imagine a system that doesn’t constantly influence the zoi’s day-to-day life (work, economy, relationships, and routines), not just isolated events like in other games.

I’d love to see fans, haters, and professional contacts who react differently, with exclusive opportunities depending on your level of fame and reputation. It would also be fun to create fashion trends based on how famous someone is.
Good behavior → more contracts, better relationships
Scandals → job loss, social rejection

-Variable income: contracts, sponsorships, events…
-New expenses: security, more private housing, image maintenance, bodyguards.
-Financial risk: losing fame = losing income (fame loss has real impact)

-Professional decisions:
Accept well-paid but controversial jobs (affecting reputation, scandals, etc.) or reject offers to protect your image.

-Difficulty performing normal activities (shopping, going out).
-Options to avoid attention: discretion, private areas, disguises, or concealing clothing. (I think this would be so funny!! )

Friends/partners reacting to your fame (interest, jealousy, distance), or gaining fame/reputation depending on your zoi’s level.

-I also think professions or traits would be interesting.
Professions like singer, actor, model, or musician. (although you can be famous in others careers as writer or different)
Traits that affect sensitivity to media attention (someone very anxious, someone manipulative about their image, someone seeking validation, or ambitious… the ideas are endless!).

I know it’s a lot of ideas, but even if you choose a different direction, I’m sure you won’t disappoint—you’re doing an amazing job

Hi Kjun, one of my biggest disappointments with celebrity gameplay in past life simulation games was that fame often felt too generic. The system had good ideas, but celebrity did not always feel connected to a real entertainment ecosystem. I would love to see inZOI take celebrity further by making fame feel structured, social, and connected to the world.

One area where inZOI could really shine is music — especially bands and musical groups. With the new Music Producer career already in the game, I think producers could become a major bridge between performers, bands, labels, venues, and fame. Producers (or even maybe a talent management role) could scout talent, work with singers and musicians, help shape a group’s sound, record music, and influence whether an artist becomes locally known, industry respected, or commercially famous.

I would love to see bands treated as customizable creative groups, not just play instruments together gameplay. Players could create a band or music act with a name, genre or mix of genres, image/style, audience type, and performance identity. Some groups could be instrument-driven, some could be vocal groups, some could rely heavily on choreography, and some could be a blend. A band could have lead singers, background singers, guitarists, drummers, dancers, keyboard players, rappers, or multi-role members. For example, one Zoi could be both guitarist and lead singer, or a group could have multiple drummers, multiple vocalists, or rotating leads depending on the song/concept.

This could also connect beautifully with a new musical preferences selection in preferences. If Zois have meaningful music tastes, then bands and performers could attract different crowds based on genre, image, reputation, and performance style. A soulful vocal group, rock band, idol group, jazz act, dance-heavy pop group, rapper, or experimental producer-led act should not all attract the same audience. Fans should have taste, and venues should have identity.

I also think businesses and venues could help make celebrity feel more alive. Venues could choose what type of crowd or entertainment they cater to: live bands, solo artists, DJs, vocal groups, dance performers, celebrity appearances, underground acts, or VIP events. Businesses could also have options for target clientele, such as gender-focused spaces, artist-focused spaces, fan-focused venues, luxury VIP lounges, record label spaces, rehearsal studios, salons for entertainers, or clubs known for certain music scenes. That would make the city feel like it has culture instead of just random lots.

For me, the dream is not just “famous Zois.” It is a living fame ecosystem with managers, stylists, bodyguards, endorsements, award shows, scandals, comebacks, and memories that the world actually reacts to. If inZOI can make fame feel like a real part of everyday simulation instead of just a status bar, it could become one of the game’s defining features to date.

And I also think we could add a donation system, so if wealthy Zoes have no place to spend their money - create a charitable foundation to improve schools or orphanages.

And why not? I would just like to see the real result of donations. For example: a renovated school or the latest generation of equipment purchased, etc.

Au7nuqe is an ambitious idea, I must say that fundamentally I agree with it and support it. Creating a more vibrant ecosystem in many aspects will make the game a unique universe.

Yes. At the moment, you can “donate money to charity” but it’s just a generic charity and you don’t see anything change as a result. I wish there were specific charities and each had a different impact (improve city cleanliness, reduce homelessness, etc) and you could see the impact of your donations. Right now, donating to charity serves no purpose except when completing ambitions.

A lot of good ideas were already given. I would add one more, which would be exceptional events organized somwehere in town (museum, theatre, gallery) to celebrate a celebrity. It could be a concert, a meet-and-greet option.

Most importantly, I’d like to have a more nuance approach to the celebrity system: some “celebrity” Zois wouldn’t be considered as a celebrity by some Zois who are not interested into what they do. For instance, a Zoi who loves reading but doesn’t like sports will not behave the same way in front of a famous football player and a famous writer. However, this means having a larger range of likes/dislikes for Zois.

There could be different levels of celebrity, each level harder than the previous one. Think of the way Hollywood works:

  • D-list for an obscure fame, a former one-hit wonder, etc. That’s usually where most of reality-TV people end up. Only a few people actuallty know who they are… and they forget them pretty easily.
  • C-list for people known by face but not by name: they’re recognizable but not that much. Mostly recognized by teenagers and young adults… middle-age and elderly people definitely haven’t heard of them.
  • B-list is for recognizable faces. Successful/accomplished people. Adults have heard of them and know them. Elderly people… not that much.
  • A-list is for recognizable names. These are the “real” celebrities. Those everyone knows (even grandpa and grandma!). Beyoncé, Marilyn Monroe, Stephen King, etc.
  • Oh, and Hollywood as a Z-list for influencers and people only known on the Internet. They’re known by teenagers, maybe some young adults, but that’s it.

Each of this “tier” would be way harder to reach and would take longer. You can become an “influencer” in three days… but you definitely can’t become Beyoncé in three days! Also, the higher tier, the more exclusive services they would get (bodyguards, duties outside town, etc.). And if you own a store, keep in mind that the A-list celebrities will only come if you have five stars… and be ready to close your store for an hour or two.

And ultimate tier could be the “Icon/Legend” tier, after staying X days in the A-list category. This could be celebrated by a ceremony in a “Hall of Fame” building… or a Walk of Fame (even if Bliss Bay is based upon Santa Monica and not Hollywood).

Also, when we talk about a Celebrity system… what about an “Infamous” celebrity system? Some people may be famous… for the wrong reasons. And instead of being loved by the population… they’re being hated.

I can understand that your suggestions would add to the game play. And if I think about how my hubby plays games, he would probably agree that it would keep the game more interesting.

Despite that, personally I prefer a more relaxed game. Realism is nice but I don’t want the game to be an exact match for the real world, which means that various taxes are not something I would enjoy…

If the dev team were going to look at implementing a tax system, I would recommend making it an optional setting so players can choose for themselves
