I had a thought: what if the celebrity system also tracked notoriety/infamy, not just fame?
The current conversation feels like recognition will be limited to “traditional” celebrity paths, but there are other Zoi types who realistically should be known in the world.
For example:
-
My criminal Zoi has a full rap sheet and is constantly getting caught/wanted
-
There’s an in-game rumor system (Bubble app) that spreads rumors
-
But other Zois don’t seem to recognize or react to him at all
It feels like a missed opportunity. In a system with world simulation + rumors, a repeat offender should have some level of recognition - whether that’s fear, avoidance, or even curiosity.
Same idea for other paths:
-
Serial entrepreneurs who build multiple businesses
-
High-performing professionals
-
Even chaotic Zois, who constantly causes problems
It doesn’t have to be “celebrity” in the traditional sense, more like reputation tiers:
-
Positive (fame, success, influence)
-
Neutral (unknown)
-
Negative (infamy, criminal notoriety)
Reactions could scale based on that:
-
NPCs react differently in social interactions
-
Business impact (people drawn in or avoiding)
-
Dialogue changes or rumors reflecting your Zoi’s history
Right now, my Zoi can rob half the city and still walk around like a stranger, which is honestly impressive but also a little immersion-breaking.
Feels like adding a reputation layer on top of the existing systems could make the world feel a lot more responsive and alive.
