Right now inZOI doesn’t allow us to change names after creating our characters, and I think adding this would make a huge difference.
It would be great to have an option for:
-
General name changes – in case players want to update or fix their ZoI’s name later.
-
Married name changes – so when characters get married, they can take a partner’s last name (or even choose to hyphenate or keep their own).
This would add so much realism and give players more freedom in shaping their stories and families.

a simple screen when you get married would be nice, so that it shows both last names and you can change it to adopt the partners last name, have them take your last name, add both last names together, or keep it the same

I think the reason this may have been overlooked is because in Korea women don’t change their surnames after marriage. Still, I think this would be a cool addition to give people the option to change or keep their surnames.

I fully support this proposal. I often take turns playing with families. Sometimes I don’t have time to visit another family before the baby is born, and the game itself gives him a strange inappropriate name. We should be able to rename it.
Also, I want to add. Right now, the game has a limited number of characters for first and last names.
For example, I can’t name Zoey like Agnesittia Crumplebottom.
Please let us freely choose the length of names and surnames.

I agree. It asks if you want to move households when you get married, why not have the extra box asking what name we want to take, if any. I want to update daughters name to her dad’s now mum and dad are married but unable to

Also players are put on the spot when creating a household (we have to name zois now), then when they are playing with their household they realize “Sue’s name should have been Barbera” or like me I like to take npc zois to caz and give them a makeover, I really want to change their first names in caz, because I just made them look cool and they should have a name that I think their style came from.
