  • Details: Hello, I’m getting a red notification that says “the settings are too high for your CPU” but my computer is very powerful and no matter what settings I use, whether low or high, this notification appears all the time… I noticed that this started after an update approximately 3 updates ago… Is this a bug? My laptop configuration is: Intel(R) Core™ i7-14650HX (2.20 GHz) 32.0 GB (31.7 GB usable) NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU (8 GB) Intel(R) UHD Graphics (128 MB) 207 GB out of 954 GB used 64-bit operating system, x64 processor. Furthermore, I can’t get an acceptable mirror reflection while other players can and have a lower configuration. Thank you for your attention and I hope you can get back to me.

there is such a problem too! I was already thinking, where is the setting that has exceeded so much…

  • When adjusting graphics settings, performance settings, even in city management settings for animal density, security, fire prevention, etc… I always get this notification: the settings are too high for your CPU. Even when I set everything to the lowest settings, the notification appears… I checked in-game and the CPU is not overloaded or maxed out at all. I’m looking but there’s nothing on it. It doesn’t prevent me from playing, but it’s troubling. I’m desperate. I should mention that this appeared after a very old update. Would you have a solution so this message no longer appears and why it appears?
Additionally, in-game I get flickering with lighting on surfaces. A lit lamp behind on the wall flickers, the feet of an iron or stainless steel piece of furniture flickers. These aren't general flickering but in small areas as well as mirrors where I can't get a sharp reflection without flickering. Would you have a solution to make this disappear?

I hope you can help me. Thank you very much.

Hey there, thanks for reporting this issue :slightly_smiling_face:

Would you please try verifying your Steam files first? If you haven’t done this before, here’s a short guide: How to verify your game files via steam → afterwards, please report back if the flickering issue is still bothering you. Thank you in advance :folded_hands:

Most likely, we’re not talking about the processor, but the graphics processor.

Since you have a laptop, I’d check which accelerator the game is trying to run on. It’s possible it’s using Intel graphics as the preferred option, especially if you’re playing on battery power?

  • Press Win + I and go to System - Display - Graphics
  • Specify the path to inZOI.exe inside the game folder — “C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\inZOI\inZOI.exe”
  • Click on InZOI when it appears in the list, press “Options”, select “High performance” (your 5070 will be listed next to it), and click “Save”.

Also, unfortunately, even a graphics adapter won’t let you set very high settings. 8 GB of video memory won’t be enough for that, so you’ll have to use medium settings or lower anyway.

Thanks for your great suggestion @Carnel, I really hope it helps with the issue :slightly_smiling_face:

Just wanted to throw in my 2 cents here too, due to you stating “8 GB of video memory won’t be enough for that”. First off, these are my specs: Alienware m18 R2; Intel Core i7-14700HX; NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 laptop; RAM 32GB. As you can see, my setup is way older than the one mentioned when starting this thread. It’s never had any issues with inZOI performance while all settings are either on high or ultra.

InZOI needs a lot of RAM and definitely a separate amount of VRAM, but the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 should be more than enough to handle inZOI very well. As reflections and lighting in general are quite buggy ever so often in the game, I can’t even say for certain if the flickering mentioned above is a setup issue at all.
→ Just wanted to add that, because I think due to the forum’s common translation issues, Carnel’s post might’ve sounded a little harsher than intended

Harsh? No, believe me, I didn’t mean the slightest bit of harshness or rudeness at all! I wanted to help in a purely friendly way! If something sounds off — it’s really just the peculiarities of translation.

Which of my phrases are translating as not sounding very good? I’m actually curious :slightly_smiling_face:

And regarding the 8 GB — I’m speaking exclusively within the framework of recommended requirements. There 6 is listed as the absolute minimum, 8 as the minimum recommended, and really for resolutions like 4K, as far as I understand, it would be better to have even 12 or 16. By the way, even something like enabling DLSS can take up to 1.5 GB of VRAM by itself.

So it’s great that I was wrong about the performance. I myself have 8 GB of VRAM, and the game takes up all of it completely, although I’m not playing on high settings, and I have 44 GB of RAM. So apparently there’s still some optimization for different specs, and the game behaves differently on different machines.

Don’t worry, I think the forum translation is just not doing any justice to all of us xD Also tweaking every single setting of inZOI until the game is truly optimized is so unnerving tbh. I think your overall description of how VRAM is used in the case of inZOI was very fitting. But VRAM and RAM can always be used to the max by any game without issues. That’s what it’s meant for. I’m usually more worried whenever a brandnew game doesn’t use most of it.

If any of you here want to optimize anything, please check out my guide: inZOI – Graphics & Performance Guide (revised after update v0.8.2) → If you happen to discover anything that can be improved, simply reply in the guide’s thread and I’ll gladly check it out and add it =)

Good evening, thank you very much for all your responses, I’m going to check the files on Steam. Regarding performance, I know someone who has the same configuration as me and they even set a lot of parameters to ultra and they don’t get the message. I got this message after an update, but before that nothing. When I watch my CPU while playing, it’s at half utilization… So I’m going to check Steam, verify to make sure it’s my CPU and graphics card that the game is using. I’ll give you feedback. And thank you very much again for your help!

Hello, game files verified, much less flickering in-game but there’s still some, especially on the stainless steel feet, behind the lamps with the shadow and lighting on the wall and mirrors a bit.

And after verification it is the CPU used is indeed the one from the graphics card.

I’m glad at least most of the flickering is gone now  Some of the flickering might also happen due to the game’s Unreal Engine 5. It is known for various lighting bugs unfortunately.

It might be worth a try to clear the shaders / PSO cache too. Here’s the exact part from the devs’ official guide:

Hello, I’ve already emptied the PSO cache and Steam cache. I’m not experiencing crashes, but I keep getting the message “your settings are too high for your CPU” regardless of the settings I use, whether I set them from low to high. Even when adjusting the parameters for fire prevention, city safety, etc… No matter what settings I try, even at minimum, this message keeps appearing — it’s really annoying. I’m wondering if this might be a bug. It started happening after an old update, I think around April. Before that, it wasn’t appearing. I didn’t have it before… Thank you for your help and your responsiveness. I’m open to any suggestions you might have…

Can someone from the team please merge this thread with the first one by @Aria169? I get a red notification when I change my graphics settings Thank you in advance :folded_hands:

Hi @Aria169 ,

I will merge your post into the existing thread about the same issue you’re encountering, so it’s easier to track and receive updates. Thanks :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
