Is SmartZOI worth it?

Hi there,

Just wanted to ask if enabling SmartZOI worth it? I’m asking, since it’s making my game crunch from time to time and I’m not sure if it’s worth to trade off fluid performance for it. I know I described my ZOIs and they have thoughts and seem to be doing their favourite things a lot (but they did even without SmartZOI) so what it really does? Are they actually „smarter”?

I don’t use Smartzoi. I haven’t had any problems for months.

So I haven’t been able to use it since the High School update, I somehow didn’t notice a big difference, but I’d only been playing for a couple of weeks before that anyway.

So my AI explained the following to me, whether all of that is correct I have no idea:

Smart Zoi should, in addition to normal autonomy, use an AI model to:

  • interpret a Zoi’s situation,
  • generate its own “thoughts”,
  • take personality or a text you entered into account,
  • occasionally select appropriate actions based on this.

But normal autonomy continues to run completely even without Smart Zoi. Eating, sleeping, conversations, kissing, blind dates, needs, memories, and relationship development don’t fundamentally depend on it. That’s why your Zois continue to act just as independently.

Why you don’t notice a difference:

  • Smart Zoi apparently only occasionally influences the selection of individual actions.
  • A lot of that looks the same from the outside as normal autonomy.
  • The most noticeable visible part was often just the generated thoughts above their heads.
  • Normal autonomy has since been further developed itself, for example through time, location, and situation.
  • Smart Zoi was already working somewhat unreliably before your crash; players reported empty thoughts or even worse decisions

Myself is keeping smartzoi on stand by until the team drops the next update because they have mentioned that they will add an additonal feature to smart zoi sometimes soon, otherwise i have grown rather fond in using smart zoi to “strengthen” a zoi as in making sure they are behaving more accordingly to what kind of traits or hobbies they might have but foremost smart zoi was helping me for awhile to keep couples together

Same ever since that high school patch dropped i haven’t touched smartzoi because of the way the zoi’s are behaving right now so i would suggest in waiting until we hear from the team :slight_smile:

Did you notice a difference in the game? Unfortunately, I can’t test it right now.

I’d really like to try this feature in full, but unfortunately it’s only in English at the moment. I’m waiting for other languages to be released.
