The Zois always have animation bugs whenever they pass in front of, behind, or next to an object created for Canvas.
And while taking photos to attach to my post, I discovered that this? it goes way overboard
. In front of a simple plant created for Canvas, correctly placed, without using the Alt key, when they go to smell it? they walk around it, stick their head through the wall to smell the plant
.
They jump over objects and walk in levitation, or simply pass through objects. Here are some photos I took in 5 minutes or so showing different visual effects.
I have to admit I don’t even dare share some of the objects I’ve created until these animation bugs are so significant and noticeable.
Since when has it been like that? I have quite a few things from you, but I haven’t noticed it so far.
LixyDesigning_170, who frequently downloads my objects, informed me of this issue about a month ago which was somewhat present before but has gotten significantly worse recently… And I’ve seen this issue on my end too, so I have a bunch of objects, and even a complete set that I’m not sharing, because of these animation issues.
I’m sorry to hear that. I really like your stuff. I probably have around 15 or 20 things from you, and I haven’t had any problems with them so far. Is this only affecting your newer stuff?
I just went to check and it does the same with old objects, I suppose it’s an update that modified the footprints or the consideration of the bounding box (invisible cube that encompasses the object to define the surface it occupies)… Here’s a screenshot I just took of my Zoi passing by an old armchair I had created…
So it seems like anything with a function can cause this bug? The only functional items I have from you are this one and the laundry basket. I’ll keep an eye on it. If there’s anything else you want me to test, just let me know. My save is new, so maybe that could help track down what’s causing it?
Actually no, not all functional or non-functional objects cause bugs. The photo of the room divider, which has no function, passes through it as if the object didn’t exist… So it’s common to any object created and shared on Canvas, I tested it with other objects shared by other people and it’s the same. You can test it with any object that’s tall enough, that sits on the ground, and it’s identical, I had created arches for a request made on Discord, where the Zois could pass underneath, but same thing if they weren’t exactly on the arch’s path they’d walk through it diagonally
I put the items more directly in his way. Yeah, sometimes he walks right through them. With the red armchair, he sometimes does a little jump. I checked the collision box, and it doesn’t cover the backrest. Normally the backrest should be inside the collision box too. But I have no idea how that works with 3D printing. In the ModKit, you could adjust the collision box.
The thing is, it’s not just an impression I get, I’m actually creating; and since last December following the big update that happened, for the Zoi to sit properly on the seat without levitating above it, you have to move the origin point and shift it slightly, but the box in question shows the original seat, but not the customized objects even though the seat is positioned in the same place as the base seat. But even with non-functional objects the bugs are still there, even if in such a case there’s no bounding box to respect for the Zoi’s interaction, and they don’t even detect it and pass right through as if it didn’t exist even though we can clearly see it when we place the object
