I thought it could be fun to have a thread where we share games that have already been released and that you genuinely enjoy

The idea is simply to discover interesting games through each other and maybe find some hidden gems we would otherwise never come across.
Any genre is welcome - life sims, building games, RPGs, strategy, cozy games, indie titles, or anything else you think is worth checking out. PLEASE DO NOT post any of the Sims games or Paralives, since we’ve discovered through numerous discussions that those are very well-known here already.

What is it about?
The Alters is a sci-fi survival game where you play as Jan Dolski, who becomes stranded on a hostile planet. To survive, he creates alternative versions of himself, the so-called “Alters”, each shaped by different choices Jan could have made in his life. You have to manage your mobile base, gather resources, make difficult decisions and deal with the very different personalities of your Alters.
What I personally like about it:
What really makes The Alters special to me is its unusual concept. It combines survival, base management, exploration and a very personal story about choices and the paths we don’t take in life. I also really enjoy getting to know the different Alters and seeing how their personalities and relationships develop. The atmosphere and visual style are fantastic and immersive as well.
There is also a new DLC available now, which gives me a good excuse to jump back into the game.
