ROYALTY EXPANSION — Let Us Live Our Royal Era!

I would LOVE to see a Royalty Expansion added to inZOI someday!

Imagine being able to create your own royal family, attend extravagant balls, fight for power, have arranged marriages and decide whether your Zoi becomes a beloved ruler… or a ruthless one.

Basically: let us live out our ultimate Bridgerton fantasy!

A Whole Royal Hierarchy

It would be amazing if Zois could have different titles and positions within society, for example:

King / Queen
Prince / Princess
Duke / Duchess
Count / Countess
Nobility
Commoners

And the title of your Zoi could actually affect how other Zois treat them, what opportunities they have and where they can go.

You could be born into royalty, marry into it, earn a title… or lose one!

Arranged Marriages & Romance

A HUGE part of the expansion could be relationships and marriage.

Arranged marriages
Secret romances
Forbidden love
Marrying for political power
Marrying into wealth
Affairs and scandals
Royal heirs and succession

Maybe your parents could even arrange a marriage for your Zoi based on status, wealth, reputation and political alliances rather than love.

And of course… you could choose to obey your family’s wishes or completely rebel.

Royal Events & Activities

There could be SO many activities and events connected to royalty:

Grand balls & coming-of-age balls
Sword fighting & dueling
Horse riding & carriage rides
Archery competitions
Masquerade balls
Coronations
Royal weddings
Horse races
Hunting parties
Afternoon tea & social gatherings
Tournaments between nobles

And imagine having a coming-of-age ball where your teenage/young adult Zoi is officially introduced to high society and potential marriage partners!

New Skills

A Royalty Expansion could also introduce new skills such as:

Etiquette — learning how to behave in high society
Strategy — political decisions, alliances and power
Diplomacy — negotiating with other nobles
Swordsmanship — dueling and tournaments
Horse Riding — riding horses and using carriages

Your skills could actually influence how successful you are within the royal world.

Good Ruler or Evil Ruler?

I would LOVE for royalty to have an actual morality / reputation system.

You could become a beloved ruler who cares about your people

…or a ruthless ruler who only cares about power.

SERVANTS & ROYAL HOUSEHOLDS

Royal households could have servants with their own lives and relationships.

Maids
Cooks
Butlers
Guards
Stable workers
Advisors

And servants could actually become part of your story!

Maybe your Zoi falls in love with a servant…
Maybe a servant knows a royal family’s biggest secret…
Maybe your family has a trusted lifelong butler who knows EVERYTHING.

A BRAND NEW WORLD — A DIFFERENT TIME

I think this expansion would be AMAZING if it came with a completely new world that feels like you have stepped into a different historical era.

Not necessarily a completely historically accurate 1800s world, but something inspired by the Regency / Victorian / Bridgerton era.

Imagine:

Huge royal palaces
Massive gardens
Beautiful old-fashioned towns
Poorer neighbourhoods
Historical markets
Churches & cathedrals
Theatres
Horse-drawn carriages instead of modern cars

And most importantly…

A HUGE SOCIAL CLASS DIVIDE

The world could have a much stronger difference between the rich and poor.

Your title, family and wealth would mean everything.

A royal Zoi could live in an enormous palace while a commoner might struggle to afford food or housing.

This could create so many interesting stories:

Royal × Commoner romances
Marriage for social advancement
Families trying to gain wealth/status
Rival noble families
Rebellions against the monarchy
Secret identities
Children born outside of marriage
Inheritance disputes
Fighting over succession

LET US CREATE OUR OWN ROYAL DRAMAS

The thing I love most about this idea is that it could give players a completely different way to play inZOI.

PLEASE, inZOI team… give us our royal era!

I would spend HOURS creating royal families, attending balls, arranging marriages and causing completely unnecessary scandals.

I actually really like the general idea of a royalty/historical-themed DLC, but I think there are two different things mixed together here.

A DLC could provide the actual sandbox basics: a suitable city/world, royal or noble titles, historical clothing, palaces, servants, balls, carriages/horses, etiquette, inheritance systems and so on. That would give us the tools to create those kinds of families ourselves.

But things like arranged marriages, forbidden love between a royal and a servant/commoner, rival noble families, succession conflicts, secret identities or rebellions sound much more like specific story scenarios than normal sandbox mechanics to me.

That is actually where I could imagine the Fate Engine fitting really well. For example, a scenario could start you as a prince whose family arranged a marriage for political reasons while you are secretly in love with someone else, and then give you different goals or choices from there.

I personally wouldn’t want every royal household to automatically come with those storylines, because that could become restrictive quite quickly. I’d rather have the DLC provide the systems and assets, while Fate Engine scenarios optionally create the dramatic “Bridgerton-style” stories with them.

That way people who just want to create a royal family in normal sandbox gameplay still can, while people who want the full arranged-marriage/forbidden-romance drama can choose a scenario built around it.

I 100% agree!! The less restrictive the better​

And the storyline parts would definitely work great as a fate engine stuff, more than integrated storylines to follow!

My goal for this post was to spread lots and lots of ideas connected to the theme, for the team to see all the possibilities for a DLC, and maybe the brainstorm on storylines could spark an idea or 2 as well​

I’m especially excited about the opportunity to live in a different decade! And I think that would work really well with the new announcement they made earlier this week, about making more worlds with dedicated world specific content

Actually, Kjun has already shown an amateur video that he really liked, which featured a carriage, a castle, a princess, and fans in rather old-fashioned outfits. So the theme of a “kingdom” is definitely in the air. I think we’ll definitely get such an add-on sooner or later. But I wouldn’t expect it within the next year for sure — there are too many other tasks that need to be solved, and too many game mechanics are currently oriented toward modernity. At minimum, we need to figure out what to do with that entire system that currently works through a smartphone, but will obviously be out of place in the Middle Ages.
