Has anyone been able to finish the fishing collection log? I am trying to figure out where to get the whale shark, but it is proving difficult.

We’ve adjusted the probability of obtaining a “Whale Shark” with v0.3.5!
- Increased the chance of obtaining a “Whale Shark” through fishing in Cahaya.
※ [inZOI Team’s Comment] We have expanded the previously low-probability areas and added new zones. Now, you can search for whale sharks in a much larger area.

I believe I saw whale sharks swimming underwater when I was snorkeling near the sea between resort island and deserted island
Yes, this is the spot I saw them too. But isn’t it between Resort Island and Deserted island?
for the life of me i can’t find this area. i’ve scuba’d all around the area using the map, toward the desert island, back toward mainland.. nowhere has those specific columns sticking up, nor whale sharks. i even tried a new save thinking maybe my save was messed up but its the same. even using the screens to judge distance/angle from the desert island, the minimap you circled. i’m stupid or it isn’t there for me. can anyone verify this location for me?

Try to find it with the sun standing high so you can see from the boat what’s underwater, then it’s easier to find. There are also maps along the beach with the areas highlighted.
If you can’t see anything underwater anywhere, no jellyfish, coral reefs, seaweed… then it’s maybe a bug(?) Did you agree to the world update after the October Update?
yeah thats how i always looked for the areas to dive, they’re quite visible.
here is my zoi on the map in the boat.
here i circled some stuff i know where it is - left is jelly fish, middle is another ruin closer to the desert island, right is sharks. you can kinda see the jellyfish/shark moving around but neither of those are it.
i’ve snorkeled through all the area between here and the main island and can’t see those pillars or whale sharks anywhere between.
After the update these areas a way harder to find!
It seems they only load when being near and it takes quite a while -.-
It’s currently high noon and before the update, I was able to see clearly whats underwater.
So this is between the Deserted Island and the Resort Island
I do find the Ruins where the turtles are and the place with the ring of statues next to the deserted island with the sharks and the reef next to the pier with the smaller sharks, but not the place where the walesharks have been!
I think this is a bug or they (have been) moved somewhere else(?)
thats the middle ruins i circled in the boat pic. i’ve been down there a ton of times but don’t see the same roman-greek type columns as in your one pic. i’ve fished there about a billion times too and had no luck with whale sharks. you’re sure thats the whale shark area?
edit: to be clear i mean the roman-greek columns in the first pic from earlier in the thread. i see the circular ones just like your recent pic just fine.

maybe your pic was before they did the patch that was supposed to make whale sharks more catchable and they changed part of the map without saying it? i dunno. at least i’m not crazy
Yes, I think they’ve changed the underwater map since I took these pics (the post is from way back in September)
While there are spots now with moonfish, marlin, mantarays and the sandsharks (I haven’t seen before the update that changed it), there are far too many spots with sea turtles and I think the walesharks belong there maybe and it’s a bug (?), but I haven’t explored all of the spots yet, so …
thanks for the confirmation. i guess i’ll have to re-dive all spots and look for whale sharks but i’m pretty sure i’ve been to every spot and haven’t seen any, but since i don’t know which version this all changed.. (it wasn’t 0.4, i’ve looked at this thread once before at least on like 0.3.6 and then gave up thinking i was dumb or something). for how forward they are theres still some stuff they sneak in and don’t mention! i did manage to bag a ghost turtle earlier.

one more before i waste time:
can a mod/helper confirm that whale sharks are in cahaya and catchable as of 0.4.2? i don’t mind re-exploring all the dive lots to find the right one, but i will mind if they’re just not there now.

Any news here? I found the ghost turtle, ghost shark, and the other ghost fish that seems to have golden reflections in Lake Cahaya. I’m missing two of them and I can’t find them at all (not even the normal whale shark)
