It is nearly impossible to play on a laptop without a mouse. I would be very nice to have full capability of using a controller. Upon connecting a controller, I discovered that there is limited compatibility but the controls are a bit confusing and there is no option to pan the screen like there is without one. I also found that some interactions can’t be selected resulting in the player having to switch back to the mouse or trackpad.
I use steam and if I even have a controller connected at all, my steam app immediately shows an error - something like, “This game not compatible with a controller.”
With as complex as inZOI is, not sure how a controller would work but I totally get that ppl have a preference.![]()
See I’m on Mac and it offers limited controls. It won’t do things like let you free move. It would be awesome if it would let you move the cursor. I’m not particularly thrilled with the controls in general and I’m hoping that eventually we get the option to alter them. My least favorite is “rotate” as in the view. I come from sims (you probably do too lol) and I loved that you could just left click and drag to rotate view. I’ve just been leaving it connected and using it intermittently to do things like rotate and when I need to free move.
As for the error, I got it too. I dismissed it and went into game and then disconnected the controller and reconnected. I use a dual sense w/ it connected via usb-c. I’ve found that xbox controllers work a bit better.
The 2 upsides to the controller are you can freely rotate and don’t have to WASD to move your zoi. I don’t expect full on console play but it would be nice to have controller compatibility both for convenience and accessibility.
I would like to use controller rather than m&k as it is less problematic for me (RSI). However, some of the controls are too janky at present; it is difficult to target and interact with objects accurately, and I find holding down left stick to run very awkward. This would be much easier if it were a toggle.
