[ Fix some lights "power" ] Since the update, some lighting became way too dim.

Totally agree. The graphics quality has changed since the update. I think the combined effect of having increased default walking speed and supposedly faster loading of textures to improve performance has required the frames to load faster, and may have resulted in compromising the graphics quality. This has reflected in several places such as the outdoor shadows (images posted above), indoor lighting, hair texture and color for some.

Oh how I wish we could go back to pre v3.0!

You can see the difference in pictures, but actually playing the game feels totally different. I’ve been switching back and forth between the old and new versions of the game now, but the new one is almost unplayable for me. The contrast ratio, light diffusion range, brightness intensity and especially the sense of depth have all been downgraded.

After the update, the indoor lighting feels brighter during the day, and the bulbs themselves seem to shine more intensely. But at night, even though the lights look very bright from a distance, once you zoom in or step inside, the room still feels dim

It’s not that the bulb’s brightness is lacking — the issue is the stark contrast between how it looks from a distance and up close. Even though the light appears bright from afar, when you get closer, it still feels dim. I’ve confirmed that the bulb intensity has been increased, but that’s not the problem. The real issue is that the ceiling lighting still feels dim when viewed up close.

After the 0.43 update it seemed to get a bit better, but after the 0.44 update the problems started again. It’s not that there isn’t enough lighting, the problem is that from a distance it looks extremely bright, but up close it turns dark.

And at night, even when there’s no light around, if you lower all the walls it becomes really bright even up close.

In short, when the walls are lowered, it looks bright both from afar and up close. But the moment the walls are raised, it suddenly becomes dim.

Hi! I’ll merge your post with the existing bug report about the lighting becoming dim. Thanks.

Yes I noticed now all light has been set down to 50 instead of 100 by default. It can be changed when editing a light object. So it’s seems that was intentional and not so much a bug.

Good catch.

That’s the result I got with 100. It looks intensely bright from far away, but still dark nearby. Oddly enough, when the wall comes down, it turns bright again.
