My wish: Inzoi devs should play their own game

EA is the not my issue. I’ve been through it enough times to know its purpose and what to expect.

What I meant is that Inzoi seems to be missing the basics of game design. So much of the game is clunky and tedious for no reason. Especially since the lead producer (?) has admitted that he plays the other big franchise. To me, that means that he should already recognize when a mechanic is laborious, to the point that players may not want to use a feature anymore.

I’ll bring up the heavy backpack again because it’s one of the best examples of what I mean. The developers took the time to make the Zois miserable when their bag is full. Yet, the devs didn’t take the time to create a solution that didn’t require dumping or selling important collectibles. It doesn’t make sense. Players shouldn’t have to tell them that. If they simply played the game, really played it, they would already know when a feature is really bad.

I’m all for community involvement and knocking around ideas. I enjoy the EA process. However, there are some frustrations that shouldn’t be overlooked by anyone, EA or not.

I think this might be just because they haven’t actually finishedmaking the base game, but :person_shrugging:

Yeah but they’re not wanting feedback about just that, you’re assuming they don’t know which areas to improve on, of course they do.

They’re not stupid, there are time pressures involved, the game is only around 2-3 years old from the start of development. That’s not very long at all considering how far they have come.

Little things like the bag can be worked on over time but other projects may take priority. Building a life sim is a HUGE undertaking and they’re probably trying to prioritise certain features over others.

Here’s how I see it: what’s done is done, and there’s no turning back. There are examples in video game history where something started out broken but eventually became great (like No Man’s Sky or Cyberpunk 2077). What I hope for the developers is this: that they don’t rush to implement every community request in clumsy or hasty ways. Let them postpone, apologize, say ‘not right now’ (which they’ve already been doing in AMAs, and that’s fine). Even if it’s something as urgent as backpacks and inventory systems, and time feels short, I hope they bring in a couple of talented designers, testers, and QA specialists from other current projects. That kind of collaboration could save more time and money in the long run. I hope they learn from those people, gain experience, broaden their design awareness, and expose themselves to more references. No more outdated RPG guides or tutorials — players deserve better, more intuitive and modern design.

Cyberpunk 2077 and No Man’s Sky were ‘broken’ on release, inZOI is Early Access and not broken.

Just like you and OP, I paid for the game. I play tons of titles (~5 games in a month, including EA ones that were in far better shape (both in design and stability), work and believe I’m qualified enough to assess this. Technically, CP2077 was playable at launch, and NMS was also normally functional in the most aspects. Back then, it just wasn’t trendy to launch every AAA title in EA.
Core life-sim systems (like personality/SmartZOI, economy, the logic of resource and inventory placement/management/usability/UX), or transport/accidents/destructible respawn (getting stuck and forced reloads), or the police station (softlocks), or NPCs (spawning on top of each other) are broken in InZOI, and so on, and so forth. For me, it’s uncomfortable (even painful) in-game and I don’t want to turn a blind eye. I’m very sorry, but it’s my perspective as a player too.

This should probably be its own thread, but I hate the advertisements, especially the pop ups in build and character mode. Those are the most annoying. The same things are constantly being advertised to me and I either have already downloaded them long before the advertisements, or I don’t want them. I think if the devs played their game for a minute they would realize that people don’t endlessly want to click away pop ups (same goes for all the Mew Store N pop ups). I also feel the same about the twerking ladies on my homepage everyday. The new layout since Cahaya is awful.

TBF you paid for more than being a tester when you bought the game, but that seems to be what you paid for with this. They’re not going through the proper testing steps, just having us do it instead.
