No Skill Progression with Swim Lessons

  • Issue Date: Has occured since the August update that introduced the Swimming skill

  • Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Sign up a Zoi up for Swim Lessons via the Computer
  2. Attend Swim Lessons on in-game Thursdays or Saturdays
  3. Wait until after the lesson, then check the Zoi’s Swimming Skill progress. The skill level stays the same.

  • Details:

    • Attending Swim Lessons via the computer does not increase Swimming Skill

Hi @LazyTaco Thanks for bringing this up. Just to clarify—it’s not a bug, it’s how it’s meant to work.

When you sign up for Swim Lessons on the computer, your Zoi gets a Rabbit Hole schedule. Inside that Rabbit Hole, the skill only goes up if the interaction succeeds, not just for attending.

So taking the class doesn’t always guarantee progress, but depending on how it goes, your Zoi’s Swimming Skill can improve. Hope that clears it up! :psycat_lay:

I’m not sure I understand. Swim Competitions via computer fail or succeed, but I’ve never seen a pass or fail for the swim lessons after attending—only the competitions. My Zoi has taken swim lessons consistently every week (I have aging disabled), and I have never seen any progression at all.

Does this mean my Zoi is failing swim classes every single time? What are the odds of succeeding? It might need to be tuned if this is the case… or at least we should have a buff that reflects the outcome. But with only two swim classes a week, having a chance of not gaining any skill at all makes the classes pretty useless, especially with aging on.

Hi @LazyTaco, I think my earlier explanation may have been a bit unclear — apologies for the confusion.

When you select the Practice Breathing or Practice Kicks Rabbit Hole interaction, it needs to run for 1 in-game hour. After that, your skill will increase depending on whether it succeeds or fails.
※ Please note that the success/failure buffs are already being applied.

I hope this makes things clearer.

That may explain why I never saw a ‘fail’ or ‘pass’ or the buffs for the lessons. I was switching back and forth between the two interactions repeatedly while the lessons were running, so I guess I accidentally never let one or the other fully play out.

I will try again with this in mind to see what happens, then report back. Thank you for that insight.

I tried testing this again, but ran into a new issue where I can’t attend the Swim Lessons via the Taxi at all, so unfortunately, I still don’t know if this solution works…
