Unplayed households auto complete the family collection (and even cheat -.-)

I’m a rotational player and noticed my unplayed households auto complete the family collection - and even cheat.

For example:
Mr Lunvik has never been at the ocean (and never on a boat either) and ‘cought’ the Moonfish, while I was playing another household.
That’s especially sad because I wanted to witness this big moment and complete the collection myself.

And on top of that, the fish and other objects they claimed to have cought/gathered aren’t even in their bags :psycat_sad:
This also happens with objects from the other categories, not only fish.

When I switch households, I see the family collection blinking and they obtained sth again without me, even though I turned autonomy completely off (in the settings and for each Zoi individually).
The whole fun with the family collection is taken from me.
I now lots of players want more autonomy, but I like to play and control myself.

Oh wow, I always assumed this was a way for the game to have some story progression without needing the player (I’m not a rotational player, but I noticed this in my game while switching to other households temporarily) :open_mouth: I didn’t consider it could be a bug.

If it’s intentional, they should make stuff like this optional. It doesn’t bother me, but I’m sure others don’t like this either.

This really shouldn’t happen with autonomy turned off.
Where is the fun starting to collect when the Zois do it anyway without me making an effort?
And completing this collection isn’t even a proper story progression feature imo.
It does not affect their lives/family/income/relationships. . . nothing.
And they really shouldn’t catch fish from worlds they have never been.
(Gives me the uncanny feeling they are out and about and living their secret live after I logged out ö.ö)
We should have the option turn autonomy completely off, for played and unplayed households.

But autonomy doesn’t mean that NPCs or Zois can’t do anything, though. If it did, that would mean they would all die or never have any progression of any kind.

From what I understand in the game, all autonomy settings do is make it so that Zois do not do anything by themselves, except when it’s necessary, for your current household. That’s why Zois still “wander around” because wandering around is triggered by a Zoi needing to move out of the way of another Zoi’s process (or, in some cases, if an interaction cannot be completed properly) while still looking natural. That’s also why fast speed auto-enabled autonomy again to prevent Zois from dying while time is passing so fast. It’s necessary for an open world.

And if the game is doing something automatically through a timer, like unlocking random collectables for other households from time to time without the Zoi having to act it out, it wouldn’t have anything to do with a Zoi’s live autonomy.

But I would imagine the idea of this (if it turns out not to be a bug) is to give Zoi in the world some imaginative story. Maybe the Zoi “bought” it. Maybe they read about it. Maybe they went on a vacation and caught it.
^Obviously, this didn’t “actually happen”, but that’s still story progression if you use imagination.

I hope that in the future, this will be adjusted so that Zoi actually go and do these things to make it happen naturally, rather than automatically.

Idk, the family collection was introduced as a gameplay feature to give the players something to achieve in inZOI. We also have collections in The Sims and it’s up to the player to complete them and not to the Sims. I’ve never heard of a game where the characters complete achievements on their own. That misses the point why they were implemented in the first place, to keep the player playing. I don’t know if you tried to catch a Moonfish? That is quite a task. It can only be caught with the jewel fishing rod and getting the mats together for it takes a lot of time and money, so it’s really disappointing the Zois complete this without me (and the fish is not even in their inventory)

Well, Inzoi does strive to be a living and open simulation, and playing rotationally gives the other households in the world a chance to become part of the surrounding simulation and story, but that’s beside the point. Either it’s an unintentional bug or it’s not. If it is, hope it’s fixed. If it’s not, then I could see how it could be intentional. That’s all.

I’ll be brief:

  • I think the collection needs to go, it’s pointless. inZOI isn’t that type of game.
  • I frequently find that itmes in the collection are not in my zoi’s bag and cannot be retrieved
  • If zois are going to collect things we need to see them fishing, mining, farming. I occasionally see zois fishing, but never mining or farming. It’s just my zoi walking around with a pickaxe, looking like a murderer.

Tbf, Sims (the only other life-sim there is to this point) did have collecting mechanics involved, though perhaps not to this extent (IIRC TS3 had a collection journal or similar).

I agree that npcs and unplayed zois should not automatically add to their collections though, as this is something that should be done only by played zois, that rather being the point.

Slightly off-topic, but as a non-rotational player, how exactly do non-played families look after their needs when you are playing another household? Presumably they do not die if autonomy is disabled.

About how the non played households work in others’ games I have no idea. In the beginning, I noticed their needs were always in the reds when I returned to a household, even though sometimes, I’ve been only away for less than an ingame our. So I moved all the households out I didn’t play so they don’t die and made ‘feeding’ rounds to keep the others alive, because I play with autonomy off lol

After the cheats came and the option to turn aging off, I enabled the freeze needs cheat and turned aging off ^^’ As my Sims, my Zois don’t die and I play at a very slow pace.

Sims 4 also has a large collection feature (16 collections) and I loved it a lot because it was a challenge.

I had so much fun with frog breeding :frog: :revolving_hearts:
(screenshot is from 2014 omg I even made a tumblr post about it hahaha)

I just logged to another household and Leonard had 10(!) new objects collected while I was away -.- He doesn’t even have a garden to grow something.
That’s just no fun and has no value for me to try to complete these collections.
This is also an object where one is supposed to make an effort, not just the average harvestable.

And Namjin doesn’t even own the required fishing rod to catch this fish (neither had he been at Cahaya).
