Thanks. I played Ghost Play partly on v0.40 Day 1 and later watched a walkthrough. Someone mentioned that choosing the second outcome crashes the game, and I haven’t seen any mention of working reincarnation. Well, the removal of Karma was pushed by the players themselves, and the replacement with quests that include elements of Sims 4 L&D was their decision. I wasn’t the one pushing to interfere with the roadmap or opposing the original ideas. So I’ll play other games for now but if the players manage to bring back the original concepts, then I’ll have a change of heart.
The ‘Ascend’ and ‘Attend funeral’ options both work; I’ve tried both of them. As for the mention of reincarnation, it’s right there in the v0.4.0 patchnotes:
Play as Ghosts
- After death, Zois can choose “On to the Afterlife” to begin playing as a ghost. The ghost state lasts for three in-game days, after which the Zoi may either ascend or attend their own funeral before peacefully departing. Note that the reincarnation feature is not included in this update.
The only thing I can assume is that it was heavily deprioritized. I left a post on Discord without much expectation (but Kjun will read it anyway). Drop the links for voting and the final response when you can.
@Starwing hope you dropped the suggestions for improving the Karma system into the current brainstorm.
I posted the suggestions in the older thread, and then the mod, Fira, quoted my suggestions and theirs in the newest thread following the release of the Halloween update.
I’m also missing the karma. Especially when I play with zois I made to be evil. Now I can’t see how evil (bad karma) my zoi is.
At least the developer said they’re working on a new system. Making the city more dynamic so there are more zois where our zois go in the world conflicted with the karma system, so I understand better now. I really wish the issue had been communicated to us. I never would’ve been so upset if I knew that they’re going to bring it back in some form, and that it had to change so the city feels more alive.
I hope we’ll be able to see and reward the karma of our played zois. I want to be able to win the lottery, have good health, or have more good luck when they reach either best or terrible karma status (depending on what you planned to do).
Currently, I don’t feel enough motivation for my zois to do good deeds if it can’t lead to a bonus in life. Of course, some of my zois are just very nice people, but there should still be an eventual reward for them naturally being like that. Likewise, the character I made to be a menace to society is one I’d like to reward with a lottery win when she gets to terrible karma.
Agreed, it would be nice to lean into the lore with it and say that either…
A. The afterlife is literally an artificial reality that both passively and actively rewards selfless actions.
B. The afterlife is real but purgatory is an artificial reality created when humankind discovered the afterlife and realized traditional prisons and punishment only make things worse; AR Company creates virtual purgatories, as a more humane and compassionate alternative to prisons, to rehabilitate those once deemed as “lawbreakers” who express interest in redeeming their life.
