[Feature Proposal] Advanced UE5.7 Technologies & Modern Engine Upgrade for InZoi

Hello InZoi Team and Community,

I would like to submit a comprehensive technical feature proposal that could provide InZoi with a highly modern, scalable, and future-proof foundation.
This proposal brings together the newest UE5.7 technologies, advanced rendering systems, and next-generation animation and simulation features.

1. Upgrade to Unreal Engine 5.7

Upgrading to UE 5.7 would introduce major engine improvements, such as:

  • enhanced Nanite performance and more stable geometry streaming

  • updated World Partition 2.0 (ideal for large city environments)

  • improved animation tools (Motion Matching, procedural animation systems)

  • upgraded deformer-based skinning for more realistic character movement

  • improved development tools for large-scale urban environments

This provides InZoi with a strong and modern technical foundation.

2. Full Integration of RTX Mega Geometry

I propose integrating RTX Mega Geometry across the entire game:

  • complete environment (buildings, streets, terrain, vegetation, props)

  • all gameplay objects

  • clothing and outfit assets

  • Zoi character meshes

Benefits:

  • extremely high mesh density

  • efficient RTX-accelerated geometry streaming

  • significantly improved world detail with minimal performance loss

This would substantially modernize the visual fidelity of InZoi.

3. Nanite Foliage

Adding Nanite Foliage would greatly improve vegetation quality:

  • high-detail foliage without LOD transitions

  • smoother streaming at long distances

  • more realistic parks, natural areas, and outdoor spaces

This enhances the overall liveliness and realism of the world.

4. MegaLights

I recommend integrating MegaLights to improve lighting quality and scalability:

  • precise and performant global illumination

  • more accurate shadows and volumetrics

  • improved indoor and nighttime lighting

Perfect for a high-density city simulation.

5. Lumen Global Illumination & Lumen Reflections

Alongside MegaLights, fully enabling Lumen GI and Lumen Reflections would provide:

  • dynamic and realistic indirect lighting

  • accurate reflections on glass, metal, and water surfaces

  • seamless transitions between indoor and outdoor lighting conditions

This reinforces the visual cohesion of the entire city.

6. Ray Tracing Enhancements

Optional, but highly future-proof:

  • RT Shadows

  • RT Reflections

  • RT Translucency

  • RT Global Illumination

Ideal for high-end PC players.

7. Niagara VFX Improvements (UE 5.7)

Enhanced Niagara systems would allow more realistic:

  • weather (rain, fog, snow, wind)

  • particle effects (dust, smoke, sparks, fire)

  • environment-based effects (steam vents, water splashes)

This helps the city feel more atmospheric and immersive.

8. Chaos Physics & Chaos Cloth

For more realism in physics and clothing:

  • Chaos Physics for dynamic object interactions

  • Chaos Cloth for realistic clothing simulation (skirts, coats, long fabrics)

  • improved wind/impact responses on characters and outfits

A great addition for outfit variety and polish.

9. Enhanced Character Animation Systems

Beyond high heels support:

Motion Matching

  • smoother, more natural walking/running transitions

  • better blending across all movement states

Full-Body IK / Foot IK

  • automatic adjustment to slopes, stairs, uneven surfaces

  • more precise foot placement

Ideal for a life simulation where characters navigate complex environments.

10. UE5 Dynamic Animation System – High Heel Support

This system would automatically adapt animations to different heel heights:

  • dynamic foot and leg adjustment based on heel height

  • automatic hip and torso alignment

  • no need for separate animation variants

  • significantly improved modding support for custom footwear

  • more natural and believable movement for Zois

11. TSR 3.0 (Temporal Super Resolution)

UE5.7 includes the newest TSR version:

  • sharper image quality

  • improved stability

  • better performance in dense urban scenes with many NPCs

Perfect for InZoi’s scale.

Summary (Complete Integrated Feature Set)

This proposal includes:

  • Upgrade to Unreal Engine 5.7

  • RTX Mega Geometry

  • Nanite Foliage

  • MegaLights

  • Lumen GI + Reflections

  • Ray Tracing Enhancements

  • Niagara VFX Improvements

  • Chaos Physics + Chaos Cloth

  • Motion Matching

  • Full-Body IK

  • UE5 Dynamic Animation System (High Heel Support)

  • TSR 3.0

  • World Partition 2.0

Together, these features would elevate InZoi’s technical, visual, and performance capabilities to a cutting-edge level—enhancing both the player experience and long-term development potential.

Thank you to the InZoi Team for your outstanding work so far. I hope this proposal contributes to productive discussions about future engine and rendering improvements.

oh my, nice post. i only have to add this: i think inzoi is currently on unreal 5.4, and kjun mentioned specifically upgrading to 5.6 in december or one of the close future updates.

Here’s how I see it:
UE 5.6 is currently the most adapted version for all modern platforms, thanks to its backward compatibility, fallback modes for Nanite and Lumen. It’s a joint modification with CDPR, tailored specifically for The Witcher 4. For the inZOI Team, it’s crucial that real studios are available to assist with upgrades and optimisation, especially considering legacy systems like M1 and RTX2xxx.

We’re also planning to upgrade to Unreal Engine this December for even better performance.

The inZOI team and our partner studios are working incredibly hard on this — and I’m really proud of them.

Certain GPU-specific bugs require collaboration with external partners, which may take additional time.

Unreal Engine 5.6 upgrade review

Many UE 5.7 features are powerful, but lack broad compatibility or fallback support. For example, MegaLights only work when RTX is enabled (not just require RTX GPUs) making them more of a cinematic than a game feature. World Partition 2’s HLOD system slows down older systems and require asset restructuring, and the new animation model requires upgrading their custom MetaHumans before it can be used. They seem to be updating things anyway, but they’re still using pre-programmed animations (despite Motion Matching working beautifully since 5.1 as Pose Search plugin.)

In the future, partners might recommend upgrading to newer versions or even provide a more easily migratable custom UE build for inZOI.
