[12.19.25] Feedback about December update features

i have the feeling kjun plans so much that he forgets half of them

Yes, here’s the list, otherwise people think I’m just making things up.

I agree with you

And while knowing what we desperately want for all these months, they decided to go for something completely different.

There are no businesses mentioned, no court system and no multiplayer (if I’ve seen right).

‘Hey Kjun, here is the list what the players want.’
Reads list.
’How interesting and insightful,

I find that a bit harsh tbh. A lot of the things on that list are either already in the game (fights, new NPC interactions, city & weather events, holiday decor, travelling between cities); coming in the December update (group activities, robbery, self-development goals, possibly parking / minimap?); or actively being worked on. And I’ve definitely seen plenty of requests on the Discord for improved and expanded career options, including running businesses. My personal preference would have been to improve the active careers first and add more career paths, but businesses are cool as well. The only thing that came a bit out of left field is the courts, but again, plenty of people have asked to see improvements to the crime system.

That said, I’m inclined to agree with Scarlett’s comment: Kjun and the team are taking on SO many different tasks at once that they seem to be getting a bit distracted. Hopefully they can re-focus with the upcoming new roadmap and actually stick to it this time.

And I agree with them. Because it’s one thing to anticipate all the core interconnected systems as they should be in the future, and only then add branches on top. One career is enough to debug the system, one variation of a crime, etc. Anything that’s variation #2 is already excessive until the other systems are built to a lower degree.

Do they have a fully prepared NPC model to account for scaling in roles/groups? After all, they reworked them in 0.3, but by 0.4 they cut the city-wide simulation and launched an adaptive model at a super early stage (first released a DLC, and then radically changed the core).

Do they have a City Travel and/or Small City system ready, so that players can travel without losing connections, or will it remain a reset save for the entire game lifecycle?

Do they have a model ready so that players can apply more than 1/18 + 2 traits across the whole life cycle?

Are the city’s holiday decorations tied to their early City Appearance system, or are they just a FOMO event? Obviously, they didn’t manage to implement a calendar, so the decorations only appear until January 31 in real life – this isn’t a well‑designed game system.

Everything except groups and multitasking is the part of the existing planner - event system, but it may take time away from what is still in its infancy. Sorry, but games are developed from the core outward, not by layering first and then repeatedly changing the core. That’s how time gets wasted on reworks: break‑remove‑redo‑return in whatever form.

This way the game becomes fragmented and held together by crutches. Poor performance may already be tied to the code itself – don’t forget, there’s no NPC simulation like in the v 0.3/Sims 1-2-3-4, yet it still lags. Development should follow a pipeline, not be driven by boredom or the urge to add something just because players got restless.

For example:
– Sims 3 save states were already overloaded with routing and simulation, and the simple hotels in Island Paradise (which overloaded save statuses), along with routing issues from houseboats (that broke old algorithms), ultimately killed performance.
– Sims 4 engine didn’t account for a simultaneous system of ownership and rental of lots, new one was attached to the previous, and the complicated experiment For Rent ended in a catastrophe that should never have happened, similar to the issues with owning a second lot and the multi‑lot system in B&H.

Like I said above, I think it’s less about ‘boredom’ and more about realising they’d bitten off more than they could chew with their original design. It’s a pity, but OTOH that’s really the whole point of Early Access - to check that your cool concepts actually work in practice and are fun to play. If major redesigns are needed, it’s obviously better for that to happen during the EA stage than after the full release (as happened with TS3 and TS4).

Another thing to bear in mind is that what gets added to the game isn’t a pure popularity contest. Things that are easier to implement are obviously going to be dealt with earlier than more complex stuff. Some of the features on that list may simply not be possible / practical to include in the base game, and could get pushed out to DLC or even dropped altogether. Others will likely come back in a heavily modified format, like the karma system.

These simple systems are already designed in a rather outdated way, hardly better than Sims. In fact, the systems that could be removed or delayed might be the ones that truly shape the game. For example, hand‑in‑hand walks simply don’t exist in any game, nor do features like walking with a stroller while talking, or seamless sequential animation such as leading a child by the hand, etc, etc. Yes, those are features, the kind that would make even a casual pick their jaw up off the floor. That’s what I was waiting for. But right now the question is simple: how is this different from Sims, apart from prettier graphics and a couple of aspects? We were told there are several secret features, and then silence.

The detective and business features from Get to Work are, ofc nice, but let’s be honest, they’re already recycled. At this point it’s purely a competition like “sims had never (in the base game).” Why and for what purpose is completely unclear.

InZOI needs killer features, at a level that would knock the entire industry flat, not a bunch of small, messy, trivial ones, but the real heavy stuff.

I get what you’re saying about the importance of USPs, and it is a pity that they couldn’t make strollers etc. work for the December update. However, I find it hard to regard those kinds of features as ‘core’ to a life-sim game, however popular they would be. The most likely reason no other life sims include strollers is that they take up a disproportionate amount of dev time compared to how much players will actually use them in-game (they’re completely useless to households without babies or toddlers, for example). Do we want the devs to focus mainly on life-sim basics, or on stuff that makes the game unique? Because if it’s the latter… the prison and court systems seem pretty unique.

If we’re talking core features, I’m very pleased by two underrated improvements in the patch notes: furniture performance scaling and ambition rewards. Both of these help give Zois something to aim towards and (hopefully) make day-to-day gameplay feel more like an actual game than a pure dollshouse. On the other hand, I’m disappointed at the lack of improvements to personalities beyond a single new trait. At least they’ve added some new/improved urges and started to make certain interactions dependent on personality, such as the criminal ones.

You seem to be trying to confuse us quite often, sorry. There is a post and there is feedback. It seems to us that at the moment additional content is causing delays in what was announced or requested earlier. Essentially, you are saying: forget the promises, forget the USP, forget the roadmap, forget our wishlists, and they just systemically launch and postpone systems without any announcement. I paid money for early access, and I have every right to criticize some nuances in game direction. If certain things raise doubts for me about the processes in early access, I can talk about them. Because the essence of early access is that it has a roadmap, and that roadmap is transparent.

But your message is basically that if something doesn’t please us, we should just leave or stay silent. And that is a violation of the rules of participating in early access.

  1. I was expecting major changes in the December update, but I was disappointed. Many features do not appear to be included in the December update. – 27+21+27… =168 upvotes
  2. My hope for 2026 is that you will be now exclusively focusing on improving existing features and stop adding new ones. – 27+12+13… upvotes
  3. If there’s one thing that doesn’t need improvement right now, it’s Cahaya, believe me. The business system is barebones. It’s a bit frustrating that they add so much content without polishing it. But yeah, all I want right now is for them to stop adding content and focus on improving what’s already in the game. – 15+11+11… upvotes

I’d also prefer that the promises the Devs make would be reliable to a certain amount.
I’m aware this game is early access, but imo, there has to be a direction they should follow.

At the moment it feels for me they are running around like headless chickens in all directions and considering all kinds of features just to drop them shortly after. This is not very reassuring for me.
I can see no real consistency in the development.
Like the cat’s eye. It’s gone - and now it’s back again. This is so absurd, I can’t get over it…

Something must have happened to make them rethink the whole concept/core of the game, maybe the pressure from the publisher or the inverstors, I don’t know.
I don’t think it’s the players.
Feedback means they collect it and consider what is doable.
Now or with future DLCs.
And I don’t think they see our feedback as pressure, and we are also aware that not each of our wishes is bound to make it into the base game.

The old roadmap was revealed around when early access started (end of March, I guess?) and got ditched in August (or maybe even earlier), that was only ~ 4 months later -.-

I also don’t think Krafton and the investors will wait for another two years until the game is eventually finished after all the money the put in inZOI since it’s not doing very well.

I absolutely agree. I’ve said it a few times. I’ll say it again: they’re very confused and constantly changing their ideas and roadmap. They can’t move forward like this. @LennyOgg

If none of us, maybe the President of Korea requested them?

Like multiplayer.
The feedback about this controversial feature was mixed and we had very strong opinions against or for it - but the President of Korea wants it, so it gets done.

Kiddo: Mooom I don’t want to eat the brokkoli!
Mooom: But it’s so healthy!
Kiddo: But the President said I don’t have to eat it.
Mooom: Ah, very well then.

My only guess is that they just keep the Sims window open whenever there’s something to copy. And whether it’s a police officer or a detective doesn’t seem very important to them.

We’re currently planning to include court appearances and a police officer career, and we’re working closely with our designer to achieve great results. We’ve also been revisiting The Sims’ police career for inspiration!

I’m feeling really sad and angry. Because of the distance culling feature. They brought it in with an update just for performance, but on the contrary, my game performance is getting worse. The streets are empty and lifeless :man_facepalming:t2::frowning::face_with_diagonal_mouth:

I… what? Was that post even addressed to me? I never told anyone to ‘forget’ about all these other things, and I even agreed with you on quite a few of them! But just as you obviously have the right to complain and criticise, I also have the right to disagree or to point out why some things may be taking longer than expected -which is not necessarily for the reasons you’re assuming.

But your message is basically that if something doesn’t please us, we should just leave or stay silent. And that is a violation of the rules of participating in early access.

Um, no, it is not, and I’d appreciate it if you stopped trying to put words in my mouth. You clearly have an extremely specific idea of what features you want in the game, what order you want them in, and exactly how they should be implemented. Which is fine, but once again, other people are allowed to disagree and that is not the same thing as telling someone to “leave or stay silent”. We’re all adults here (I assume) and should be able to have a genuine discussion without accusing each other of bad faith.
