The game freezes when you select a location from the agenda

The game freezes when I select Smartphone > App > Select a location

This happened to me with two different Zois, selecting Turtle Sanctuary and Serene Beach.

Each time I have to close the game from Steam, so I haven’t tried with other locations.

Did this happen with an old, fully-updated save file or with a new one (= started after December update launch)?

I tried to reproduce your bug in my old, completely updated Cahaya save file and both locations were selectable, Zoi got there and nothing crashed, lagged or bugged. Would you kindly share your hardware specs & operating system, so we can doublecheck with the game requirements + the latest drivers?

It might also be helpful to check out your save file on a different setup. If you want to, feel free to upload it here so I can check if it is a save file related bug. The devs will possibly also need your file of course =)

You could also try to update the world manually via Game Options - Gameplay - Other.

Hi, the save is old (but not very old, created after the October update) and completely updated.

Here it is:

My configuration: 12th Gen Intel(R) Core™ i7-12700H (2.30 GHz), RAM 16.0 GB, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU

The problem does not occur when doing Go here or Invite here, but only with Smartphone>Contacts.

After clicking on Select, the game freezes and I have to exit by going to Steam.

I tried to reproduce the bug with your save file on my setup and didn’t have a crash or lagging. That’s most-likely indicating that one or more of the settings for your device are a little overpowering. Do you play with the inZOI NVIDIA frame generations enabled and / or raytracing on?
If you’re unsure which settings you can turn down a notch, feel free to share some screenshots of your settings here.

I’m having NVIDIA’s app optimize the game (ray tracing is not enabled), but you reminded me that updates “de-optimize” the game and indeed it wasn’t optimized now.

I’ll try again with the game optimized and then let you know. Thanks!

It doesn’t work

I tried with Cahaya’s save, with my historic Bliss Bay save (where it had always worked perfectly) and a new save made specifically today at Dowon.

Now I’ll show you the graphics settings, which are the ones set by Nvidia. For everything else the game handles families of 8 people very well, and also 8 playable Sims that all go together to public places.

It’s a disaster because I use the calendar a lot to make the various families meet.

Oh, I tried, it also freezes when selecting the Calendar from the Map without going through the Smartphone.

Thank you for the screenshots and the detailed descriptions.

Your playstyle includes family meetings with numerous Zois → scheduled via agenda / calendar → doing the typical teleport to location → then the freezes happen.

I think the issue is the following: your VRAM spikes when teleporting due to texture quality set to very high. Teleporting for agenda events from one place to another in seconds demands a lot of recalculating and reloading at once, that could be the cause of your freezes.

You can try to lower the following settings if it’s the VRAM spikes:

  • Texture Quality: -1
  • Anisotropic Filtering: down to 8x - 4x
  • View Distance: -1 or -2 (start with -2, then add if it worked)
  • DLSS / FSR / Upscaling: turn off / disable
  • Motion blur: off (that’s optional but could be a trigger)

Please try them and report back if it worked

I tried to set the settings according to your instructions and even lower, but it always freezes.

Today I saw that other players have the same problem too:

First of all, thank you!

I tried to do the following:

  • set the language to English (I play in Italian)
  • go to Agenda and set an appointment for an hour later for some children: it worked and didn’t freeze
  • I reset the Italian language, hoping that once the event was set it would still work
  • when 5 PM arrived, the time when they were supposed to go, the game froze (as usual, it didn’t close, I had to close it from Steam)
  • I reset English to see if the program had remained, but it had disappeared

This is a very strange thing and I hope they fix it soon.

I’ll add: I have six families in Bliss Bay, composed of 5/6/7, Zois, each of whom apart from babies and toddlers has commitments scheduled for the entire week, planned before the update. Now, if I click on one of them when they have a commitment, the game freezes :sob: :sob: :sob: .

I imagine that if I want to play on these families I’ll have to switch the language to English and delete one by one all the commitments for everyone. <Playing in English is impossible for me.

It’s really an annoying bug.

First of all, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this issue may have caused. Thanks to your reports, we were able to identify a game freeze that occurred when entering the schedule window under certain language settings.
This issue has now been resolved with the v0.5.2 hotfix.

Once again, we’re sorry for the disruption. As this matter has been addressed, we’ll be closing this post—but if you encounter any new issues or have additional reports, please don’t hesitate to let us know.
