Steps to Reproduce:
Go in Map View
Click any household with a family
Click any member to get their Zoi card.
Basically the wife zoi has a preference for piano (and thus, synthesizer), but she always grab the guitar when she decides to play on her own, even tho there’s a synthesizer a few pace away from the guitar. She has no preference for the guitar either.
Should she not always prioritize her favorite instrument ?
It would make sense !

From my limited observation, I think they do prioritise favourite activities, but it’s still rolling dice. No activity is really excluded. Even activities marked as disliked, they are somewhat de-prioritised, but can still win the activity roulette, so to speak. Like, even if you set her to hate playing the guitar, she’d still occasionally choose to do it, and be unhappy about it.
I think the logic may be that Zoi must occasionally do stuff other than what they prefer, even just to stay alive. Like, even if your zoi only likes veggies, they might have to buy a hotdog or hamburger if they stayed late at the park. But I could be wrong about that, since I can’t speak for the InZoi team.

I think Zois don’t have any awareness of their preferences yet. Once they perform an action, the like-dislike system triggers an emotion related to the preferences, but Zois don’t actively pursue “hobbies”, etc. matching them.
Of course, when they’re visiting a community lot and one of their basic needs decreases to a critical point, they will do anything to “stay alive”, disregarding their own likes or dislikes. Without that, we’d be having starved Zois everywhere, so I’m thankful for that.
The devs should definitely implement systems that make more use of the Zois’ preferences. I assume, once they add the new memory system, an overhaul of the likes/dislikes would make a lot of sense.

I should hope so. Can you imagine what it would do to a vegan, if they had constant memories of cooking a big fat pork barbecue? Several times?

Well they need to be in tune with their preferences a lot more.
I also want the urges back for them.
Look, I like kissing my hubby but I feel that’s the only thing that comes up. Maybe we’re just a young overheated couple, but there are other urges I’ve seen in the past and I miss those.

Weird. My Zoi get a lot of wishes, even stuff that makes no sense short term or are just mean. E.g., rolling repeated wishes to tease people or ask a homeless person about their job. Apparently just because I chose Joyful for my character, and apparently Joyful means being a huge ass.
I’m guessing that what you’re experiencing is either a bug or some very weird weighting of your life wish, values, etc. Which, yeah, would be a bug too.

Yeah I have my character as Socialite, Cheerful, and Genius.
And I get these annoying urges too. When I get too many in a row I really wish I would get more urges about my preferences 
Hopefully they can rebalance (re-weight) them so we get more variety.
Also maybe cancel those we do not want outright.

Let me guess, you also ended up with “Love” as your dominant value? That’s a different imbalance, but it would partially explain what you’re experiencing. I swear, even when it started in the last place, and I was actively trying to be as much of a hermit as possible, it crossed that finishing line ahead of anything else.

Maybe they could add some kind of “Eccentric” characteristic or life wish or whatever, where you get almost random wishes.

Zois ignore their instrument preference when choosing which instrument to play
( Sorry dark picture, but it’s the middle of the night and I caught her doing it… She’s not alone though, every member of the family does this )
