DLC IDEA: Monte Calmo City: Art, Sports and big Parks

Seeing all the great DLC ideas from the community here made me want to add another one I have been “working“ on, a city inspired by Madrid and the towns around it.

Monte Calmo (meaning something on the lines of Calm Mount), the mockup city of this DLC, is surrounded by mounts and forests and divided in 3 main parts:

  • City Center & Business Area
  • Outskirts/ Old Town with a prairie for local festivities
  • Great Park and Cultural Area

Monte Calmo’s overall vibe is that of an european modern city with a deep past and rich local culture. Just as Madrid’s Parque del Retiro, it has a big park that sort of “separates” the City Centre and the Old Town part of Monte Calmo, which I believe would help with optimization / rendering. This would be a quite enormous park with a lake, walking trails and small food stalls and bars, some sculptures and many new activities for our zois

GASTRO

Local foods such as Jamón, Cold Cuts and Olives Churros, Croquetas and Tortilla would be added to the ingame food options. Also, Mounted Police and Soccer Fans can be good, fun additions.

ACTIVITIES ADDED WITH THE DLC

  • Local Fairs and Festivities: Small local fairs in the old town areas where attractions are placed and music played, a place where people go out at night to eat, drink, and dance together.

  • Local Flea Market inspired in The Rastro taking place in the Parks and Museums area once a week, where zois can sell and buy knickknacks and antiques, low cost stuff and even clothing pieces

  • Fashion Shows, a luxurious showcase of glamour taking place every other month.

  • Festivities: A bank holiday for the whole city, where people is free to go spend the day at the prairie or Park, enjoy music and the such.

  • Horse training and shows.

  • Soccer matches & Soccer Clubs.

  • Canoeing, Kayaking & Hiking.

PLACES ADDED WITH THE DLC

  • Museums, Theaters and Opera Houses
  • Thrift Stores
  • Flea Market Place
  • Canoe Rental
  • Pubs: places with musicians, drinks and places to sit and enjoy the ambience.
  • Horse training “Hacienda”
  • Football stadium: used both for soccer and horse shows, it could be schedulable.
  • Churrería Caffè: a perfect place for Zois to have an early breakfast or late snack, enjoying churros and chocolate, aside of some good old coffee with milk!

HOUSING STYLE & BUILD MODE

  • Addition of Spanish architecture type of houses, furniture and decorations, specially for the Old Town Chalets and Estates.
  • Rentals, where zois pay a monthly fee to live in these apartment buildings with inside patios. This would be the living arrangement for the city centre area, and even sparsely around the Great Park
  • Balconies and Balcony decorations: Flowers, Clothes racks etc
  • Stalls to sell Fans, Rosquillas (ring shaped pastries) and roasted chestnuts.

NEW FAUNA

At the centre park El Retiro style, zois can interact with ducks, magpies, swans and peacocks, as well as the elusive squirrels and fish.

And of course, black cats… tons of black cats! Fun fact: Madrid locals are precisely called “Gatos” which is spanish for “Cats“.

TRANSPORT ADDED WITH THE DLC

Trains and electric bikes to move around the city and to/from the 3 main areas. A very eco and affordable way to spend the day at the city centre and return back home at night.

JOBS ADDED WITH THE DLC

  • Art trading, Curator
  • Museum Guard
  • Canoe instructor
  • Model & Designer
  • Soccer Player/Coach

I really wanted a Spanish city for the City Heartbeat DLC, Healthcare, etc. European services, lifestyle with emotional depth fit perfectly. Just something to think about

I just checked City Heartbeat and those a great additions; I particularly like the Taxi systems and the city stability sliders. For this DLC I wanted something more relaxed, centered around entertainment, outdoor activities, outdoor fairs and art. As a Madridian I feel that is the essence of the city! Walking around without a purpose, spending a day at a park, visiting museums, eating or drinking at a terrace, driving a canoe in El Retiro… all that stuff!

I like both your idea and Moody’s idea for a DLC, the complement each other perfectly.

I do really hope the devs will think about creating this kind of european city, for sure

Well, that’s up to you :slightly_smiling_face: I just asked about the possibility, since the cities could potentially overlap.
