Right now, driving in Inzoi feels functional, but it could be much more immersive with a few key changes to how cars behave and how players interact with them. One of the biggest immersion breaks is that cars have to be spawned in and disappear when parked. It would feel far more natural if cars stayed in your garage or driveway, rather than vanishing every time you step away, and when you park them, they remain on the road. With this, cars appearing randomly when you approach is a bit unrealistic and also breaks immersion. Additionally, the way cars handle currently feels a little janky — for example, when turning, both the steering wheel and car wheels snap sharply instead of moving smoothly, which takes away from realism.
Here are some feature and physics ideas that could expand the driving system:
-
Persistent Vehicles – Cars should remain parked where you leave them (driveway, garage, street, etc.), rather than despawning.
-
Improved Wheel & Steering Physics – Steering wheels and tires should turn gradually and fluidly, especially in first-person view, instead of snapping unnaturally.
-
In-Car Music & Entertainment – Add working radios or players for a more cinematic experience while driving, similar to GTA. The music can be in the Zoi langauge, too!
-
Phone Features for High-End Cars – More expensive vehicles could come with phone-based features, such as locking/unlocking, rolling windows up/down, retractable hoods/roofs, etc, and even remote start (and having your car drive up to you, so the car appearing is actually realistic).
-
Openable Doors & Interactivity – Players should be able to open/close doors, trunks, and hoods for immersion, making vehicles feel like physical objects rather than just “transport tools.” It would be so cool if you could even put groceries in your trunk to make certain meals at home!
-
Environmental Physics – Cars should react realistically to bumps, curbs, sidewalks, and terrain (borrowing inspiration from games like BeamNG.drive or GTA), with realistic suspension.
-
Crash Physics – Light dents and scratches from small bumps, and more noticeable damage from big crashes, making collisions actually feel realistic. Repairs could cost actual money and your car may not be as functional until then (like another post said).
-
Car Customization & Maintenance – Being able to customize paint jobs, license plates, and add accessories, plus occasional repairs or maintenance to keep the car running.
-
Interior Details – Working dashboards, speedometers, lights, wipers, and mirrors to make first-person driving feel immersive.
-
Weather Effects – Slippery roads in rain/snow, fog reducing visibility, etc., so weather changes driving style and adds challenge.
-
Passengers – NPC/passenger zois should not be inanimate, and I’m sure this is going to be fixed for both boats and cars, but it would be cool if conversation continued in the car between passengers, or if Zois were on their phone, sleeping, looking out the window, reading, etc, and these actions could reflect the zois character and preferences. If you play as the passenger, the driver should actually be moving the wheel, looking to the rear window, back up camera, or the mirrors when reversing, etc.
-
Location Based Vehicle Shopping – I think that it would be so cool to have a wider selection of vehicles, like Toyota, Kia, Mustang, and 100% more sports and luxury vehicles. It may also be nice if the vehicles catalog and markets reflected the area your zoi is in. For example, Bliss Bay may have more western vehicles, like the ones I mentioned above.
Short suggestion, but I just wanted to put some of these ideas out there, hope InZoi team can consider them!! Really I just think if InZoi looked at GTA5 especially to get a better idea of how realistic driving is in that game, that would be amazing. Let me know if you guys have any ideas.
