Zois automatically quitting their jobs after some time has passed

I’ve noticed that when I switch around to different households, sometimes Zois who have had jobs when I last checked are shown as unemployed. This appears to be a bug with when they get promotions, but I can’t be sure because I switch families often. Please allow Zois to keep their jobs once they are promoted, or maybe add a notification to explain the reason for the loss of a job.

I’m experiencing the same issue. Two of my ZOIs, I assigned to a job, suddenly were unemployed. They both are married to a partner, who had a job too. Also, both of them gave birth to a child, so maybe they quit to take care of their newborn child. I’ll have to check my save files fore further information.

P.S. Thank you for your mods. Without them, my gameplay wouldn’t be that enjoyable!

I had the same problem too. I’ve noticed that this happens when other Zoi in town have the same job. When they get promoted, another character in the same position quits (they’re kind of displacing that position). I don’t know if homeless NPCs can also displace a character.

This is my screenshot from savefile that I started at v0.5.1. Zoi quit his job, after another Zoi in town got the same position. But he still can get the same job position from which he was fired

I also noticed that in the same career there are several identical vacancies displayed. Pay attention to this slider

There are many identical jobs here. I think this is to prevent other Zois from replacing Zoi when they get promoted.

I don’t think it’s a bug. More like an unfinished feature. The devs said they’d add competition at jobs. Also, jobs have a limited number of slots, which are listed in the career menu

In my actual game, I’ve checked the number of existing and active ZOIs and their jobs every in-game-day. Therefore, I can confirm, that at the very beginning there exists a set of ZOIs covering every slot of every kind of job. But after assigning a playable ZOI to a job, one of these ZOIs of a relevant rank has lost its Job.

And after a few days of gameplay, a lot of these first job-owners got unemployed and have been replaced by new spawned ZOIs. So there is a great dynamic in the job market. Also, underperformance at work might result in losing their job. On the other side, some of the playable ZOIs got promoted in their job after about a week of gameplay. Losing their job therefore might be an intended in-game feature.
