Steps to Reproduce: Wether you marry a zoi instantly or you make a party for the wedding, the zoi that gets married to an NPC loses their job. I think this also happened when I married a cohabitant, but I’m not 100% sure.
Does this happen with every save or only with specific ones? Does it also happen when your Zoi marries another one of your Zois? If you happen to have some time, it’d be amazing to check that out.

I was looking for someone to move in with my Sim, like they were renting a house together. And as soon as I convinced the NPC to move in with me—he immediately lost his criminal career and ended up unemployed. There was no wedding—he just moved in as a friend, without any romance. But still. And I’ve heard from others more than once that marriage completely resets work progress
Oh wait, that’s true. I simply paid no attention to the NPCs’ previous jobs, because it wasn’t a part of my storytelling I think you’re right. Whenever an NPC gets added to the player’s household, the NPC’s career resets.
I also had a similar situation with my Zois who were cohabitants when they got married. It occurred when there was a wedding event and when they got married at the house. The woman presenting zoi got a text saying they lost their job, and it would always be the woman zoi and never the male zoi.

I added an npc zoi to my household, gave them a job and then they got married. The zoi who is not initiating marriage got fired (it’s a same gender couple). Tested in another save too. No message about firing, just doesn’t have a job anymore. I need to redo the interview again but she could get the same position. Also I think it might be related to the new active jobs but not sure.
My zoi proposed her colleague to live together and he lost his job as a lead programmer. Later they got married and she also lost her job as a senior developer.

Happen to me too. No reason. Also on jobs without home work like profi gamer. In Cahaya maybe because of homework (I don’t see this since some patches, maybe removed or hidden by the mini map).
In Cahaya I still see the tasks on the computer, but the homework task list is lost, like for yoga trainer.

We have confirmed that Zois becoming unemployed after marriage when working in jobs obtained through the Smartphone Career app is a bug. This issue is scheduled to be fixed in the June update.
However, for jobs that are not available through the Smartphone Career app, such as Police Officer or Cleaner, becoming unemployed after marriage is intended behavior. As a result, whether a Zoi keeps their job after marriage may vary depending on the type of job they had beforehand.

I chose a coworker at the workplace as a partner for my Sim. After the proposal to move in with her, the other character immediately loses their job and receives a dismissal notification. After marriage, the situation is similar. I was able to solve this problem by getting a new device for the same job and using a cheat code to get a promotion to restore the previous position.
