better autonomy - more random events + option to turn this type of autonomy on/off

I asked Ai to give me some examples for different categories for randomly occuring autonomous events in the sims 2 that add some unpredictability and hardship to the game. I would love to have somethig like that and to be able to turn it on/off, maybe instead of autonomy it can be called random events and you can turn that off in the settings for those who don’t want it.

:office_worker: Career & Work Life

Things your Sims decide (or suffer) without your permission:

  • Autonomous job quitting due to low mood, low aspiration, or poor performance

  • Random chance cards while at work that:

    • Promote your Sim

    • Demote them

    • Fire them entirely

  • Fears triggering career failure (e.g. fearing job loss → actually losing job)

  • Skipping work if motives are too low (especially Energy or Comfort)

  • Getting fired for poor performance even if you meant to fix it later

:speech_balloon: Social & Relationship Drama

The game loves stirring the pot:

  • Autonomous flirting — even with married Sims :grimacing:

  • Jealousy reactions that instantly nuke relationships

  • Slap fights after being caught cheating

  • Unprompted arguments when Sims have low relationship scores

  • Best friends → enemies in minutes if autonomy is high

  • Breakups triggered by aspiration failure or jealousy

 Romance, Love & Family

Peak soap-opera energy:

  • Autonomous proposing or rejecting proposals

  • Unexpected pregnancy (especially with risky woohoo mods, but base game can still surprise you)

  • Engagement jealousy — Sims reacting badly to someone else’s proposal

  • Autonomous baby care refusal when Sims are exhausted

  • Running away teens if aspiration drops too low

  • Forced adoptions if social worker intervenes

 Aspirations, Wants & Fears

The invisible puppet masters:

  • Aspiration failure spirals → crying, panic, bad decisions

  • Lifetime want fulfillment causing instant platinum mood

  • Fear fulfillment causing aspiration crashes

  • Sims autonomously chasing wants (marriage, cheating, promotions)

  • Aspiration rewards backfiring if overused (hello, obsession)

:skull_and_crossbones: Death, Accidents & Disasters

Classic Sims dark humor:

  • Kitchen fires from low Cooking skill

  • Electrocution while repairing appliances

  • Starvation if autonomy + low motives align badly

  • Satellite crashes (rare, but iconic)

  • Drowning if ladders mysteriously disappear (:eyes:)

  • Death by flies if hygiene gets really bad

:ghost: Supernatural & Weird Stuff

This is where Sims 2 gets spicy:

  • Ghosts haunting lots at night

  • Poltergeist activity (objects moving, Sims panicking)

  • Alien abductions → surprise alien pregnancies (male Sims only)

  • Nightmares waking Sims up screaming

  • Possession-like behavior during aspiration failure

:house: Household & Environment

The house itself turns against you sometimes:

  • Plumbing failures flooding rooms

  • Appliance breakdowns in chains

  • Burglaries if alarms are missing or broken

  • Repo man taking objects for unpaid bills

  • Neighbors reacting badly to noise or mess

  • Pets autonomously running away (with expansions)

I also asked Ai to think of other ideas for random events:

:office_worker: Career & Work Chaos (Fake but Plausible)

  • Corporate Restructuring
Your Sim comes home early. Their career branch randomly changes (without promotion/demotion), forcing them onto a different track.

  • Office Rival Emerges
A coworker becomes an enemy automatically, lowering daily job performance until resolved.

  • Ethics Investigation
If your Sim has low Nice points, they might lose a promotion chance for “unprofessional conduct.”

  • Unexpected Transfer
Your Sim keeps their job but now works different hours permanently.

:speech_balloon: Social & Neighborhood Drama

  • Neighborhood Gossip Wave
A random Sim spreads rumors; multiple relationships across the neighborhood drop slightly.

  • Accidental Insult
A friendly interaction randomly registers as an insult due to personality mismatch.

  • Public Embarrassment
A Sim trips, spills food, or says something awkward — nearby Sims lose relationship points with them.

  • Reputation Shift
Sims gain a hidden “awkward” or “charming” reputation that affects first impressions.

 Romance, Love & Relationship Mayhem

  • Sudden Crush
Two Sims gain mutual attraction without ever interacting romantically.

  • Cold Feet
Engaged Sims may autonomously cancel the engagement if aspiration is low.

  • Unrequited Love Spiral
One Sim gains a crush while the other gains a fear of romance.

  • Rekindled Feelings
Ex-lovers regain attraction after accidentally spending time together.

:baby_bottle: Family, Parenting & Generational Events

  • Unexpected Family Visit
A relative shows up and refuses to leave for several hours.

  • Inheritance Letter
The household receives money… but loses a relationship with a distant family member.

  • Parenting Burnout
Parents temporarily refuse baby interactions unless directed.

  • Sibling Rivalry Phase
Children autonomously argue more often for several days.

 Aspirations, Wants & Mental Breakdowns

  • Midlife Panic
Adult Sims suddenly swap multiple wants and fears.

  • Burnout Episode
Overworked Sims lose skill progress for a day.

  • Obsession Loop
Sims repeatedly perform one interaction (mirror checking, cleaning, phone calls).

  • Existential Crisis
Sims cry autonomously even with green motives.

:skull_and_crossbones: Accidents, Close Calls & Disaster Lite™

  • Near-Miss Accident
A fire starts but extinguishes itself, leaving Sims shaken and motives lowered.

  • Kitchen Injury
Sims gain a temporary “injured” state that slows actions.

  • Appliance Recall
All appliances of one type break simultaneously.

  • Power Outage
Electronics stop working for several hours.

:ghost: Supernatural, Weird & Maxis-Core Stuff

  • Haunted Object
One item randomly emits spooky sounds and scares Sims.

  • Strange Dreams
Sims wake up with altered wants or fears.

  • Mysterious Visitor
An NPC appears, interacts briefly, then vanishes.

  • Poltergeist Phase
Objects shift slightly when no one is watching.

:house: Household & Environment Problems

  • Structural Decay
Random objects break faster for a few days.

  • Noise Complaint Chain
    Neighbors repeatedly interrupt activities.

  • Pet Behavioral Shift
Pets suddenly act rebellious or overly clingy.

  • Utility Billing Error
Bills spike or drop dramatically for one cycle.
