I can't take it anymore, I can't help myself, I want to play inzoi

I really want to play Inzoi, but I’m afraid that after a certain update, I’ll need to create a new save file.

My “rationality” tells me to wait until version 1.0 before entering the game;

But my “desire” tells me to enter the game now, immediately, right away!

Oh my god, I want to ask, if I create a new game now, will I need to change my save file after updates?

But I answer myself again, during the pre-release period, the game is unpredictable. Even if it’s not needed now, maybe it will be needed next time.

I’m conflicted, I’m hesitant, I’m desperate, I’m wailing.

I don’t want to make a request like “please development team, maintain save file continuity and usability,” because I’m afraid such a request might influence decisions about new features in game development. What if some really good new feature requires changing save files?

My mood is like a dead duck—I clearly love Inzoi so much, yet I can never make a decision, never enter its world!

Who can save me, save me, save me…

A very rational thought indeed. Just like you said, early access games can be very unpredictable. Seeing and experiecing how they grow and expand is quite lovely though. I have been one of the lucky ones because my March 2025 save files are still working. I really hope it stays that way :folded_hands:
Some words of encouragement: If you feel the urge to play before the v1.0.0 release, do it. You might lose files but you’ll make a lot of sweet memories :grinning_face:

If you want to play, well then play, save all created zois and created houses and keep in mind that you are going to start a new game after final release.

By the sound of your post, you really want to play, so use this time to get the feel of the game, and most important do not cling to your save file, it’s just a very small part of life with nothing of any importance, like me I have walked away from games with years of devotion like Runescape, those were good times while they lasted but that game is not what it once was and is complete trash now, do I cling to it just because I’m very high leveled even when most of my friends don’t even play anymore, for what? Nope that game is over, time to move on, and here we are today, we bought inZOI and it’s not complete but we can play, and most likely inZOI is going to be a game that we’ll enjoy for a very long time, and we will start new games later with new households in different scenarios, so I say play being that’s what you want to do :slightly_smiling_face:

I didn’t know about the compatibility issues with saves that can occur with EA games, so I’ve been playing since March.

I can tell you that my saves from March 2025 are still working. I’ve created other saves too but I always go back to my original families. In the meantime, I hope that before the release we’re given a way to save families.

What I can advise you is to make at least 2 or 3 independent backup saves before every update. They can be very useful.

i kept my same save from 0.1 launch through 0.5. something in 0.4 i think added some random objects around the map (cahaya for me) as part of the map update but went wrong, but it wasn’t a big enough issue to restart yet. i finally did restart but i think i got fair mileage out of my first save considering they suggest starting new with every major update

My advice: just make a random family and/or play with one of the pre-made families, and save your ‘main’ playthrough for the v1.0 release. That way you get the best of both worlds.
