Some notes on Engine 5.6. Also, Blurry Clothes and Black Hair Mirror bugs

Hello, everyone! I’ve been testing Engine 5.6 with particular enthusiasm because I love updates and new things in general. So far, I must say that I’m fascinated by the improvement, especially the total absence of lag and stuttering in my game. I’ve had occasional crashes before, but now I really haven’t had any.

I like this new “smoothness” in the game because it increases immersion so much that I hardly feel time go by when I play. My Zoi can go many places with super-fast loading times, and game loading and shutdown are also fast, or at least faster than before.

Another thing I noticed is that the lighting is much better. Before, it felt very dark, but now everything looks brighter and the lights and shadows look prettier. At least to me, they do.

I only have a few notes based on what I discovered last night while taking my photos. I love taking photos, so I get easily obsessed when I do it, cause I take a lot of close-ups and that makes me notice details that I hadn’t seen before.

  1. Some textures on clothing appear blurry. This never happened to me before, but I discovered it last night when my Zoi bought this new jacket at Jenna Fashion. I also noticed the same thing on his previous outfit, which I downloaded from Canvas. That texture is custom, but even so, the cat jacket, which is from the game, also looks blurry. Again, I’ve never had this problem before with any texture in the game, neither in clothing nor in furniture.

The cat jacket from Jenna Fashion looks a little blurry.

Another example of the blurriness with a different outfit.

In this other photo, you can see how the texture of the toys in the claw machine is normal, even very sharp. So apparently, the blurring only happens with some textures, but not necessarily only with custom ones.

  2. The reflection in the mirror… I know there’s already a whole topic talking about this; there, the problem seems to be the lighting or something like that, but for me, the real issue is that, no matter what color Zoi’s hair is, in the reflection, it always looks black. In my case, my Zoi has blonde hair, but in the reflection, his hair looks jet black, and without any texture. Why? I’ve been wanting to ask for a long time too, why are the mirror reflections in Inzoi so blurry, and downright weird? Also, why can we only see reflections with Ray Tracing turned on? I always have Ray Tracing off because it causes a lot of lag, but even if I turn it on, the mirror reflection is still weird.

  3. Since I mentioned that I take a lot of photos, I recently discovered something that could be a bug with the camera mode. It turns out that I can only zoom in to a certain distance, when I try to zoom in, the opposite happens: the camera zooms out and freezes, and I can no longer zoom in any further. So I can’t take real close-ups using camera mode. I hope you can take a look at that and see what’s going on, and if it’s happening to others or just me.

I hope these small details can be fixed because, even though they are “small,” they really break the immersion for me, despite the undeniable improvement brought about by the new engine.

Finally, I want to add this because I discovered it while playing around with the lighting options. (I’m obsessed with lighting too, lol).

These two photos are with Cast Shadows (Streetlamps) on and off:

Cast Shadows (Streetlamps) off

Cast Shadows (Streetlamps) on

The difference blew my mind. I always had that option turned off because it caused my zoi’s indoor lights to flicker. Now it doesn’t cause flickering anymore, and everything looks amazing, at least in my opinion. I know most of you probably already knew this, lol, but I’m sharing it in case it’s useful to someone else. It’s amazing how a simple option can improve so much. For players with better graphic cards, this may not be perfect, but for me it is, cause my graphic card isn’t high-end at all, so despite the small flaws that others might notice, I consider it wonderful.

That’s all. Many thanks to the developers for this remarkable improvement. The graphics are important, but the performance is crucial and it has improved a lot, which allows for immersion and, therefore, endless hours of fun. Congratulations! Keep up the good work, and I’ll continue testing and come back if I find anything else to comment on.

Hi @anamoon63

I’ve moved your post to the Bug Report category so it’s easier for the team to track and review.

Just a quick note: the Technical Help category is mainly for issues that prevent the game from running properly, such as launch failures or frequent crashes. For problems related to in-game behavior, the Bug Report category is the best place to post them.

Thanks for taking the time to report this! If you have any additional details that might help us better understand the issue, please feel free to share them.

First, I tried to post this in Bug Reports, but I got a message about some problem with the tags, so I changed it to Technical Help. But yes, this is the correct category for this topic.
I don’t have any more details about the issues I’ve mentioned, but I look forward to your valuable help in order to resolve them permanently. Thank you very much for your kind attention!

Dear @anamoon63 ,

Can you please change the title of this post to describe the bug(s)?

Otherwise, any bug report in this post is going to get buried.

(Reading the first 2 sentences, I seriously thought this was a “praise” post. I noticed today that it got moved to a bug report !!)

Moderators,

If possible, this post should be split into separate bug posts, or merged into multiple other similar bug reports. Else none that are mentioned here might get noticed.

Thanks everyone!

There. I didn’t change the entire title because there are some actual notes in this post (positive and not so positive) on my Engine 5.6 experience. There’s a bit of praise too, so to speak, because I’m super happy with the new engine. I’ve added the shortest description I could of the two main bugs I describe in the post, too. Now it’s a long title but I think it’s a bit more specific.

Thanks @DivineManifest for your suggestion.

Thank you

Yes, I too have liked some aspects of the new engine - quicker start and smoother. I had one crash and have (auto) sent the report. Still testing.
