These past couple of days while building characters, whenever I saw bad personality traits and characteristics, I would just ignore them directly.
My friends, lovers, and family members are absolutely not allowed to have bad personalities that would betray or upset me.
But this way I’ve discovered that it seems I’m missing out on some content in the game.
If bad traits could have their own advantages, then I might be willing to create a “bad person” whose certain characteristics could actually be very beautiful and unique.
Please consider this.
Also, I hope you’ll add more personality traits. There are too few right now!

You’re right, this is part of the request to make Zoi personalities more complex.
I think it’s very rare for people to be 100% good or bad, everyone has positive and negative sides that coexist, it would be nice if Zois resembled human beings

They already do have some advantages - traits like ‘malicious’ will remove negative moodlets for certain dialogue interactions, and allow you to perform crimes etc. more easily. Also you can have a mixture of ‘good’ and ‘bad’ traits and characteristics, e.g. the Outlaw temperament with the Cheerful and Lively traits. I agree it would be good to have more traits, and allow you to add more of them (or fewer of them) to your character.

I understand. As you said, if the “malicious” trait might make it easier to commit crimes, but crime is something I would never do in the game, so this “malicious” trait is completely useless to me, and I avoid it at all costs.
If this “malicious” trait, on top of its base effects, could make a character’s actions or behavior seem “cool” or “cocky,” or for example, if a character with this trait would stand with their arms crossed against a wall, then I might be willing to give one of my companions this “malicious” trait purely for aesthetic reasons, because it would make my companion very distinctive. I would be willing to tolerate their criminal behavior for the sake of that coolness.
Similarly, with the “childish” trait, if it could make a character express emotions in a more “profound” and “innocent” way, then “childish” wouldn’t be completely undesirable to me. Maybe I would actually need such a “pure-hearted” companion.

Sounds like the ‘outlaw’ or ‘troublemaker’ temperaments are closer to what you want for a ‘bad boy’ (or girl) aesthetic. Here are the in-game descriptions:
Outlaw
Playful and Cruel
-
This personality shines the brightest when it brings chaos to society.
-
You defy rules and morals, thriving in the chaos that follows.
-
Rejecting the framework of order and following their own path.
Troublemaker
Playful and Cruel
-
You shine with your quirky, mischievous pranks.
-
You have a playful, childlike charm.
-
You brighten up any space with your joyful energy.
They don’t alter animations as far as I know, but they do give your character Urges specific to that personality type, and change their reaction to certain interactions and conversation choices.
Are these traits currently in the game? I didn’t seem to see them when I was creating my character before. But overall, I like the idea that negative traits can have advantages, not only when I’m role-playing the character myself, but also when this character is a friend and can have advantages.
(I’m very sorry, because of translation issues, I may not have understood your meaning correctly. Are these features already in the game?)
My current personality traits make it difficult for me to create a deep character whose description exists in this kind of layered, overlapping state:
“This is a villain, but he values friendship deeply. He would rob others for the sake of a friend, so in the eyes of his friends, he is ‘righteous.’”
“This person doesn’t like to clean, yet his surroundings don’t easily get dirty because he deliberately minimizes situations that would create mess.”
“This is a lazy guy, a bit clumsy. But he enjoys staying in bed—sleeping or just resting there. He’ll invite his partner to join him in bed, which makes both of them feel more at ease and in a better mood.”
I really hope to have this kind of interplay in negative traits when crafting characters—I think it would be very important in the context of gameplay.
If “laziness” and “resting in bed” were separated into two distinct traits, I’d probably never choose “laziness.” So I hope that negative traits can be combined with some kind of complementary feature. In fact, in real life, even undesirable traits can have a silver lining that others find value in. For example, a hot temper might imply a willingness to stand up for what’s right, and timidity might lead someone to mediate during a friend’s fight, preventing serious consequences.

There are traits in the game currently - “Rulebreaker“ and “Troublemaker“
There are suitable ambitions for these traits - “Famous Hacker”, in my opinion not bad, it allows you to develop programming skills and break into banks to steal money. And “Notorious Villain” - stupid and pointless ambition

Yeah, some features are really worthless
I can only exclude these features, and then I have fewer optional features.
When searching for features for “friends,” “lovers,” and “family,” there are even fewer optional contents.
I usually create kind and decent characters in my main families, choosing only good traits. But for interest and experiment, I tried to create 2 characters in another family - “Rulebreaker“ and “Troublemaker“.
But even with the traits of a “Rulebreaker” + “Genius” (programming skill 10 Level) my Zoi failed a bank hacking and got a criminal record in absentia. Because had a crime Level - 0
For your information, the traits of friends and lovers are not a problem.
You can change the trait of any Zoi (in your family or NPC) using a cheat code “setTrait [Zoi ID] [Trait ID] [Characteristic ID] [Characteristic ID]”
You don’t need to search for a character with a specific trait
I’m helpless about this. First of all, cheat codes can’t achieve the purpose of building complex characters. Second, I don’t like using cheat codes or mods to change the game. Just like the examples I mentioned, I can’t have a “villain who is utterly evil, rotten to the core, despised by everyone, but treats me or the people around me well.” I can’t build this type of friend or lover.
You have a sufficiently strange representation about this game.
Cheat codes are just string of code that change the game conditions. Unlike most another games, especially multiplayer projects, inZOI cheat codes are official. It don’t break the game. It exist in parallel along with the game mechanics.
As for versatile and complexity characters, this is not exist in the game. It doesn’t matter if you use cheat codes or not

Once you use a cheat code, it can easily lead to more cheating ideas, including adding money. I like to simulate the game world as if it were the real world when playing, and whatever character I encounter, they have that personality. I’m unwilling to change them through various external means (unless it’s an in-game change with logic, such as a bold person becoming timid after being beaten multiple times).
Similarly, when playing games, I only play as myself, like in role-playing games, rather than playing an entire family
Haha, what I’m pursuing is a kind of role-playing, using games to fill the emotional or material needs that are difficult to achieve in my real life.
Some other players, just like you, enjoy manipulating all the households
(I feel your reply is very polite, and since I’m using translation, if there’s anything impolite, please bear with me. It’s a language habit issue—I may not use honorifics very often, and I’m also not sure if the final translation result is correct
)
The level of character complexity you want isn’t in the game (yet). But I’m hoping they add more personality traits in future, so you can customise your character in more detail.

I play in a mixed way. I play different families and some are very rich, others are not. I rotate through all the Sims of the various families and use some cheats.
