Will Thursday's update also affect the beta version?

I’m confused. Will we have all the cool things that are coming on Thursday in the beta Engine version too?

That’s a great question, I wonder too. I think we probably won’t get any more updates to the beta version until the official release since they didn’t mention it, but I am just wild guessing .

:thinking::thinking::thinking: I’m playing with the beta version, I just finished building my flower shop… and I got this little doubt

I’m still on the old 5.4 version and there hasn’t been a weekly update for the last two weeks… it always had the updates before

I just noticed that the devs have put out news regarding this question. It’s from Steam and I’ll repost it here:

Hello, Creators.

The Next Engine Preview beta branch, which has been running since March 5, will come to a close with the March 26 update. We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to all Creators who participated during the beta period.

◆ Test Results

Based on the data and feedback collected during the beta branch period, we have confirmed improved stability through the Unreal Engine 5.4 → 5.6 upgrade.

Positive results were observed in key areas including reduced crashes and performance improvements, and we are now preparing the official patch based on these findings.

◆ Upcoming Schedule

The official patch based on Unreal Engine 5.6 is scheduled to be applied in April.

The following improvements are expected with this patch:

Various bug fixes included in Unreal Engine 5.6 will be applied, leading to improved overall stability and a reduction in crashes.

Feature improvements in Unreal Engine 5.6 will be applied, allowing some users to experience performance gains depending on their environment.

Rendering improvements in Unreal Engine 5.6 will be reflected, resulting in enhanced overall reflection quality.

Additionally, memory optimization work is also scheduled to be patched in April.

As part of memory optimization, we are cleaning up unused resources to improve performance and stability, while ensuring stable gameplay across a variety of environments.

Reduced memory usage will result in smoother gameplay, with fewer temporary frame drops and stuttering, providing a more stable overall experience. Performance degradation during extended play sessions will also be minimized.

We will continue striving to provide a better inZOI experience.

Thank you,

The inZOI Team

The Next Engine Preview beta branch, which has been active since March 5th, will conclude with the update on March 26th.

I’m even more confused honestly, if the beta branch closes on the 26th then how will it be updated in April?

So the answer to my question is no? We won’t get the update on the 26th?

The beta branch will close / be taken offline / off of Steam on 26 April. You won’t be able to continue playing it, so there’s no need to update this specific branch. Like mentioned by the devs upon release, this was a test to improve the engine upgrade stability.

You can go back to the “normal”, official branch and even continue with your current save files without issues. Then the already finished birthday update will be rolled out for everyone on 26th.
→ I personally have already switched back to the official version and everything works as intended. I advise you to do the same, because switching takes a bit of time due to downloads of the content which wasn’t in the beta test :slightly_smiling_face:

Ok, so you recommend going back to the “normal” version, leaving Engine 5.6?

Thank you very much for the clarification. Unfortunately in these cases language translation plays a big role :mending_heart:

Yes, I’d recommend it, since the beta branch / test engine_upgrade won’t be continued after April 26. Feel free to go back to the official branch now, because there won’t be anything new to see and play with in the beta branch

Thank you for sharing this information.

I’m assuming that if we don’t roll it back, the update will take us back to the 5.4 version.

I’m looking forward to the full rollout of 5.6, as it really is an improvement
