I’ve been checking Steam all day for the update that was officially mentioned for April 23rd in the recent Q&A and community discussions. We are already deep into the day, and still, there is no sign of a patch or a download.
What happened to the update? It was supposed to bring major Unreal Engine 5.6 optimizations and the new career systems. Many of us have been waiting specifically for today to test the performance improvements.
If there is a delay or a last minute postponement, can we get an official explanation? When exactly is the new release time?
Looking forward to a response from the developers or anyone with official info.
I wouldn’t say that not even 10am EDT is deep into the day, but I guess it would depend on the time zone you’re in. I so think that it’s important to be patient. Where did you hear that the update was coming today?
I think everyone assumed the update was coming today because of a post on discord that said the engine upgrade would be happening today. Usually kjun gives us an exact day and time the friday before the update so if it was originally planned for the 23rd April, it’s probably been delayed. Hopefully kjun will give more information tomorrow
The April update has most likely been delayed. It was supposed to happen at the same time as the 5.6 upgrade, and the upgrade is not happening until next week, I think May 1st. I know this because in the discord for mod authors we have a countdown until 5.6 update, since the upload of mods has been frozen in the meantime.
However, there’s nothing stopping them from delaying it again, and we don’t have official definitive information that confirms a content update is coming with the 5.6.
I wished information was more widely available but there seem to be some obscurity and lack of transparency from the side of the company when it comes to delays. I understand they are trying to avoid bad PR, but we deserve better comunication.
I agree, there should have been information about this, it should have arrived a long time ago, but it hasn’t come yet, which is completely unethical. They’re not even sharing anything. If they gave a date, we could prepare accordingly.
When I asked the AI Google Gemini, it said April 23rd, so I opened this forum here to ask you, the players, as well.
Unfortunately LLMs often make mistakes like this because just like us they do not have access to all the information. Kjun did say publicly I think in one of the friday updates which are published here, a public website, so that is what Gemini was picking up!
I find it slightly concerning that delays like this are not published more widely, like here in the forums or in steam. A lot of people will just assume the April 23rd date is still correct because the Curseforge authors discord is only for modders, so it’s not widely spread.
We’re not even sure the update isn’t going to be today (although it looks like it won’t), but I am assuming since the 5.6 update has been delayed for sure.
Summary: we need better communication from the company! >.<
It was never stated by the devs in the discord that the update would come this week, its mostly miscommunication from others on reddit. While Curseforge has said stuff about the 5.6 update it was never confirmed by the devs themselves when the actual update would be. Its best to take some sites like reddit for example with a grain of salt unless there is concrete proof (other than the curseforge mention.)

Your passion continues to be a significant source of motivation for the development team. However, it is important to clarify that there will not be a major update this month. Our current focus is on stabilization and strengthening the foundational systems of the game.
Which means there could be an update still, however to avoid being disappointed in the long run i would not expect one. Its better to watch for information from official channels like discord or their social media as google and the ai summary are almost always wrong.
