Details:
The game crashes systematically when attempting to enter any world.

Observed behavior:

  • Game launches normally

  • Main menu is fully functional

  • When entering a world (both Live Mode and Build Mode):
    → brief loading phase
    → immediate crash to desktop

The crash occurs every time and prevents access to gameplay.

Troubleshooting already performed:

  • Deleted all save files

  • Started a completely new game

  • Verified game files via Steam

  • Full reinstall of the game on a different NVMe drive (Samsung 990 Pro 2TB)

  • Clean GPU driver removal using DDU

  • Fresh installation of latest AMD drivers

  • Running in a clean vanilla environment (no mods ever used)

Additional Information:

  • Issue started immediately after launching the game following the latest anniversary update

  • Game had not been played since that update before the issue appeared

  • A video recording of the issue is available

  • Full user files and logs (.zip) will be provided

Have been having this exact problem for months now. Hoping a fix for this will come out soon. I just wanna be able to load into the game at least.

After MONTHS of trying everything I possibly could to fix my game, ex: Uninstalling the game, verifying files, trying every single method I could online, I finally found one easy, so very easy simple fix to make my game finally load. Load into the world after creating my character and actually being able to play.

Go to options, on the bottom left corner, click “Reset to Default”, once that is done, click apply, quit the game and relaunch.

My game now loads past character creation to enter the world, fully load and PLAY. I did discover if you enable smartzoi after doing this method, it seems to break the game so possibly that is breaking the game.

Hey, you just saved me hours of headache

I tried EVERYTHING (reinstall, DDU, fresh setup…) and nothing worked — your fix solved it instantly.

Reset to default did the trick, I can finally enter the world now. Good catch on SmartZoi too, looks like that’s the real culprit.
