Smart Zoi Crashing on AMD RX 9000 Series

  • Mods: Removed and disabled.

  • Hardware Specifications & Operating System (OS version, CPU, GPU, RAM, storage…): Windows 11 LTSC, Ryzen 7 9800X3D, RX 9070 (AMD Adrenalin 26.3.1), 32GB Corsair Vengeance CAS 30, 1TB M.2 Drive

  • Steps to Reproduce:

  • Enable Smart Zoi in the options menu (No crash)

  • The game does not crash when Smart Zoi is toggled off in game, you can play as normal.

  • Toggle on Smart Zoi in game and open all inner thoughts and within a few seconds of it being activated, the game crashes to desktop with no error message or AMD Adrenalin Driver error or crash report.

Hello, it was happening before the newest update. I have smartZOI enabled, when I got into the game it works, but whenever I try to enable the ingame smartZoi option where you can put in a prompt, it crashes without any notice.

  5. Steps to Reproduce: It works.

Update: After booting up the game on another one of my SSD’s, this time on Linux - Fedora 44. Smart Zoi works fine. I can only assume something has broken on Windows LTSC or the AMD drivers have borked. Maybe it has something to do with FSR4 / FSR 4.1.

I will try again on my other drive with Windows 11 Pro.

Update 2: I’ve tried on Windows 11 Pro but with an older AMD Adrenalin Driver 25.12.1, all the way back from December 2025. It works the same as on Linux. Let’s see if a fresh install of the latest drivers work on Windows 11 LTSC.

Update 3: No luck, appears the latest AMD driver on Windows 11 is breaking Smart Zoi.

  • Mods: I do have active mods, they are all downloaded through the game. They are up to date, I checked today.

  • Hardware Specifications & Operating System: Windows 11, GPU AMD Radeon rx9070xt, CPU AMD Ryzen 5 9600x, DDR 5 2x 16gb 6000Mhz cl 30

  • Issue Date: I can’t remember the exact date, but it was last week. I haven’t tried turning it on since then.

  • Error Message: No error message appears.

  • Details: The game just freezes after 2-3mins and then crashes or I have to force quit the game because it’s just stuck.

Yes, unfortunately SmartZOI has been causing some problems lately. It’d be best to keep it deactivated for now until the devs roll out a fix for this :slightly_smiling_face:
