Hi, It would be great to be able to create folders to organize textures by themes of our choice, such as clothing, architecture, fabrics, stone,Wood etc…
Actually when you have a lot of textures, it can be really annoying to quickly find the exact one you’re looking for.
This can make creating more things feel tiring and discouraging.
Also, any active player will get an large number of the same textures from many different creations. This comes from the fact that if (as an example) creation #1, #2 and #3 all use the same texture, the game will store 3 different “Albedo” files of the same texture in 3 different folders. Now I can suggest a change to the naming convention of such files that would allow for ALL textures to exist in the same folder AND prevent multiple occurrence of the same one… Picture this :
Devs could easily make a single folder for all the textures, and assign each one a coded name like 89289-261125-224014-598-900.jpg (for a 89289 bytes file, created on 26th of November 2025 @ 22:40:14, which is 598x900 in size).
What are the chances that 2 textures would end-up with the same name on canvas ?
This file naming would make it possible to have 100000’s of textures all bunched up together in the same folder without any conflict/overwriting involved.
So when you import a texture in-game, it would already name it appropriately on your system with this naming convention, and keep that name on Canvas if you upload.
No matter how many of your creations uses the same textures, and even if other players use them, the system would find that unique identifier is already in a user’s folder and not redownload another “Albedo” in a new folder for that texture like it does now.
No more doubles/triplets/quadruplets, etc. showing up in Build mode (making it much quicker to load on top of it), and much less room taken on the user’s disk.
But making in-game folders to sort them would be super nice indeed !
It would allow to remove the duplicates by putting them into a “Duplicates” folder !
