One of the biggest areas I think InZoi could improve is autonomy and object awareness.
Using The Sims 2 as an example, its AI feels very natural when Sims fulfill their needs or perform random actions around the house. If a Sim is hungry and there is already prepared food somewhere nearby, they will choose to eat that food instead of making a new meal. Sims also tends to prioritize nearby objects when fulfilling needs, such as using the closest toilet, shower, or sink. Another thing that makes Sims 2 feel alive is the variety in autonomous behavior. Sims don’t repeatedly spam the same interaction for hours. When looking for fun, they switch between different objects and activities around the house, which makes larger homes feel believable and fun to play.
In InZoi, Zois seem disconnected from their surroundings. For example, they ignore prepared food and always choose to get something from the fridge instead. Some Zois repeatedly read books all day long and continue spamming the interaction even while already holding a book. They listen to music all the time, they also wander excessively through the house and don’t appear to prioritize the nearest available object to fulfill their needs. This is really annoying in larger houses, where Zois spends a lot of time walking between rooms unnecessarily just to do the same actions, read a book, listen to music, use the computer or watch TV. Some interactions also cause them to switch chairs or move to different rooms for no clear reason, this break immersion and their behavior feel unnatural and annoying to say the least.
I think improving object awareness, pathing, better autonomy, and need fulfillment logic would make the gameplay much more enjoyable and believable.
