I’d like to see changes to the ambitions system. I think this may provide greater challenge to those players who want it and guidance to those players who are unsure what to do next.
Ambitions need to be challenging and need to encourage the player to explore certain aspects of gameplay. For example, the current cleaning ambition is too simple and rewards players for engaging in an activity they would likely have to engage with regardless of the ambition.
One idea I’ve had is that ambitions could work similarly to active jobs…
Players need to gain a certain number of points to progress to the next tier in the ambition.
Ambitions provide suggested activities but points can be gained through any relevant activity or interaction.
Different activities provide a different number of points toward the ambition. The player is encouraged to try different activities to see which contributes the most to the ambition.
Groups or clubs relevant to the ambition provide an opportunity for players to earn more points toward their ambition as well as engage with the world and other zois. The same activities earn more points when done during the group gathering.
An example would be the ‘plant lover’ ambition.
Suggested activities: farming, selling grown produce, producing bouquets, sharing gardening tips, giving or receiving mentoring in gardening.
Gardening club gathers at the local community garden where they garden together, share gardening advice and provide mentoring.
Another example would be a parenting ambition.
Suggested activities: positive interactions with children, read parenting book, engage in group activity with one or more family members, mentor child in one or more activity, help with homework.
Parenting group meets at the local park to discuss parenting and provide encouragement. Parents with young children are encouraged to bring their children to the group gatherings. Attendance contributes toward ambition progress.
This approach to ambitions might allow for greater freedom in achieving the same ambition while guiding the player towards greater engagement with the open world and other zois.
i suggested a while ago that ambitions or goals should be more visible on the screen like in the sims, heartopia, life by you, or paralives. i’ve watched a lot of inzoi gameplays and absolutely nobody tries to complete the ambitions or even looks at them. this should catch the attention of the inzoi developers. if the most important mechanic in the game (like my character’s life goal) is going unnoticed, they need to do something about it.
and i do agree that the ambitions system needs to be improved by making it more interesting than “water plants 4 times” and adding more exclusive, appealing reward types. they could be anything from clothes, hairstyles, money, objects, quality-of-life tools, access to lots or areas of the map, job perks, skill boosts, needs-related benefits, personality traits, characteristics, voices, the ability to connect with a wealthy zoi, whatever. the more objectives (not only ambitions) and unlockable elements the game has, the more dopamine the game generates.
I have a post w my suggestion for skill-based ambitions and desired life choices. I think it could use a complete overhaul as most of the ambitions don’t align well with the suggested desired life and it’s hard to find ambitions that really fit my zois. A good portion of them have you reading the same book over and over, buying the same type of stuff, etc. I love doing career + skill type goals in life sims and unfortunately, I don’t get that same motivation to complete them here but I’d love to see them re-worked or given additional options under existing categories.
Oohh I love it and hope the team sees it; having an overhaul to ambitions/desired life goals is second of my top 20 wishlist improvements for inzoi (right behind toddler beds/cribs).
I love how they’re challenging yet rewarding enough to do over time without feeling random/misplaced. These are the exact types of ambitions that bring fun + value to a zoi’s life while also giving balance vs “shake someone’s hand or practice investing 5x”.
Currently my least favorite in-game ambition is the financial success one that requests you live on a property over 35-50k excluding furniture/structure (which only 2 pre-made lots satisfy that particular goal), place a bunch of plants, etc.
I feel like for players like myself who prefer a realistic approach and don’t use money cheats, we could have goals that are achievable but not as simple as placing furniture and plants. I don’t care for any goals that ask me to do something x amount of times because I lose interest but I would have sm fun completing your suggested ambitions, esp the parent one!
Yes, I agree. However, I’m not really in favor of just complicating ambitions. Of course it will be, but then at the same time it is necessary to refine the ways to achieve certain goals. In other words, it is necessary that one task of ambition can be completed in several ways convenient for the player (to add variability)
Also, if we complicate our ambitions, then we need to increase the reward for achievements accordingly. Otherwise, what’s the point? For example: it can be a specific skill or a new exclusive character trait, opportunity, items, etc.
That’s what we’re saying; they don’t need to be complicated or all of them re-worked. Just give them actual purpose instead of queuing tedious actions and do things that actually align within that goal. With the current state of ambitions, I feel like I don’t have anything that reflects what I want my zoi to accomplish yet I have to choose one…
