Improvements to music/singing/audio + new career suggestions

Hi,

As a music and audio enthusiast, I’d like to suggest a few improvements, as well as some possible ideas for businesses.

Improvements:

  1. Let’s improve the way music-playing items work. As of now, you can’t really build a realistically-looking audio system, because EACH loudspeaker is a separate audio source. This is something which was a problem in The Sims as well. As of now, I have a turntable + a pair of speakers in my flat and the ZOIs are constantly turning on all 3, making a cacophony of different music genres.

Since we have desks, tables, and vanity mirrors which have chair snapping, we could do the same with speakers and the audio source, so that only ONE item plays music, whenever a ZOI turns on music playback.

  2. The clubs have the exact same problem. The DJ’s table plays something different than the loudspeakers set out to his/her sides, making for an absolutely awful experience when there are 3 different music tracks playing simultaneously.

  3. The singing in the game is mostly atrocious. I know that most of the ZOIs are supposed to sing off-key, but what about the ones which actually can sing? And why do ALL the buskers sing off-key? I also don’t like the fact that the instrument players don’t sync up in any way with the busking singer. Even if they’re off-key, they’re playing some random stuff. I think that we should implement a system which would connect the instrumentalists with the vocalists, so EVEN IF they’re off-key, they’re TRYING to play the same thing at least.

  4. Why do music-related careers don’t include much music creation? My ZOI is a music producer, and he’s constantly working in a digital audio workstation on his computer. There are 2 small studios inside the building, but unless a ZOI is messing about, there are no actual tasks for music producers to actually sit in the studio and DO anything with the equipment there. The same goes for K-pop idol trainees and entertainment planners. I know that the idol route is in the works, but this is still a bit sad.

Suggestions:

  1. Aside from the improvements in point 4 above, I’d like to propose creating a record store business possibility. People got back to buying physical media again, and since this is a Korean game, I think Koreans like to buy vinyl records as much as the Japanese, which still have brick-and-mortar record stores.
  2. Let’s include more music-related objects. First off, why is the electric guitar not editable? It comes only in pink at the moment… Second off, let’s add a shelf or two with vinyl records. I know the game’s not centred around this, but I can see that Koreans (at least in K-dramas) like their Hi-Fi and even Hi-End, so why only so many options for music-playing items?

I totally agree.

This is totally some kind of nightmare. It doesn’t matter; on a personal or public level, if there is more than one source of music, then it turns into a sound mess. It is necessary to combine the speakers when they are located up to a certain distance from each other (for example, up to 50 m is the normal length of a standard connection cable), anything more than this distance will no longer be combined.

Not only clubs have this problem, but all rooms and places where there is more than one music source. It’s the same at the new high school-at the school ball.

Yes. This also needs to be redone. And it is better to remove instruments and microphones in public places altogether. So that outsiders Zoi could not spoil the atmosphere with their screams and bad acting. It’s better to create full-fledged concert venues or mini concert venues for large or indie bands (even if they are scripted, it will do for the first time) - it will be more plausible. I have never seen in parks, beaches, etc. that there are just speakers with microphones and musical instruments for free use.

Yes, the career of a music producer needs to be redone altogether - now it’s just a stub (so that it’s simple). But it is better to write this in a separate topic, in detail with nuances.

Yes, that would be nice too, especially since the vinyl record player is already in the game Have the function to simply turn on the music on the player. (The mechanics of turning on music are also described here - this is also important). And yes, the fashion for vinyl records is also returning in Europe (I already have a small collection)

The busking didn’t always sound awful; since the recent update I’ve noticed that it does even with a Performance skill at level 4, which should be enough to give Zois at least moderately good performance. It also only seems to affect the ‘Start busking by singing’ option, whereas singing R&B etc. is unaffected. So I think this may be a bug. As for having Zois using microphones/instruments in public even with low skill, perhaps the ‘busking’ action could be restricted to Performance / Instrument level 3 and above.
