Music-Themed DLC

Music-Themed DLC

This DLC would be focused on music and would allow Zois to make a living from it, either as famous stars or as well-known musicians, with everything that this involves.

Musical Activity

Music Genres

Zois could dedicate their lives to improving different music styles, either as solo artists or as part of groups such as bands or orchestras. Some of the music genres that could be included are:

  • Metal

  • Pop

  • Folk

  • Jazz

  • Classical

Instruments

The DLC could include a variety of instruments that Zois can learn to play. There would be several versions of the same instrument, with different prices and quality levels. The more expensive the instrument, the better the quality of the recordings or concerts, and the more the audience will like them.

Zois could learn instruments by themselves (a slower process) or study at a conservatory with teachers. In conservatories, instrument lessons would be combined with other useful music knowledge for a musician’s career.

Instrument Examples

(Some of these instruments already exist in the game, but the DLC could expand their features and possibilities.)

  • Electric Guitar: Zois could choose between different electric guitars with various shapes, colors, brands, and quality levels. Mainly used in:

    • Metal

    • Pop

    • Folk

    • Jazz

  • Electric Bass: Similar to the electric guitar, with different designs and qualities. Used in:

    • Metal

Mechanics

Composition

Composition is a key part of music, so Zois should be able to develop and improve this skill. They could compose music using a computer or directly with their instrument. Band members could also meet to share ideas and compose together.

A very interesting feature would be the use of an AI system, similar to platforms like SUNO. This AI could detect the chosen genre and instruments and generate a song that Zois could later play.

The quality of a composition would depend on several factors that affect audience acceptance:

  • Composition skill: Improved by composing, listening to music, reading books, or studying at a conservatory

  • Instrument skill of the composer: The better the skill, the better the composition. Knowing multiple instruments would further improve quality

Practice and Study

To master an instrument, Zois must spend time practicing. They could also study composition, music analysis, and listening skills, either on their own or at a conservatory.

Groups and Bands

Zois could develop their music career as solo artists or in different types of groups. To form a band, they could:

  • Post an online ad looking for specific musicians

  • Search online for available musicians

  • Invite friends who already play the needed instruments

Existing bands could also post ads looking for new members. Zois could apply, audition, and be accepted if they are good enough. Bands of different levels would look for musicians with matching skills. Famous bands could contact Zois with good reputations.

Classical Orchestras

Classical musicians could apply for orchestra auditions. If accepted, they could grow within the orchestra and reach higher positions.

Band Management

When creating a band from scratch, Zois could manage:

  • Band name

  • Concert outfits

  • Band logo

For a band to work well, several factors are important:

  • Individual instrument skill

  • Group synergy (relationships between members)

  • Band practice level

  • Instrument quality

Members who cause problems or are not good enough could be removed from the band. Zois could also be kicked out if they perform poorly or have bad relationships.

These same systems would apply to orchestras.

Management

When a band or solo artist grows and earns money, they could hire a manager. The manager would handle:

  • Finding concerts

  • Advertising campaigns:

    • Fan meet events

    • Photo sessions

    • Interviews

    • Private events

  • Finding sponsors

Hiring a manager improves negotiation results and contract conditions.

Bands and musicians could also hire a sound technician who attends concerts. This costs money but improves concert quality, especially with long-term cooperation.

Concerts

Concerts are essential for musicians. Depending on fame, Zois could perform in:

  • Bars and pubs: Beginners or unknown artists

  • Small auditoriums: Solo classical musicians

  • Medium venues: Growing modern artists

  • Medium auditoriums: Known classical soloists or orchestras

  • Stadiums and arenas: Very famous modern artists

  • Large opera houses and auditoriums: Top classical musicians

Without a manager, Zois must negotiate concerts themselves. Better social skills mean better deals. With a manager, concerts can be arranged automatically, even in other cities.

Famous bands could invite smaller bands as opening acts.

Orchestras would perform weekly in their own venues, where rehearsals also take place.

Concert Customization

Players could customize stages with:

  • Band logos

  • Smoke machines

  • Special lighting

  • Decorations

Players could also choose the setlist, including original songs or covers, which could improve relationships with other bands and attract more fans.

Concert Day Flow

  • Band arrives at the venue

  • Access to dressing rooms (warm-up, socializing, food, outfit changes)

  • Audience arrives about 2 hours before

  • Band goes on stage and plays the selected songs

During concerts, players could control stage movement, audience interaction, and special actions.

Concert Success Depends On:

  • Individual skill

  • Group synergy

  • Band practice level

  • Instrument quality

  • Live performance experience

  • Sound technician skill

Concert results affect fan numbers and fame level.

Festivals

Festivals happen once per year on a special festival map. They include:

  • Entertainment areas

  • Food stalls

  • Camping areas

Musicians are invited like normal concerts but can also socialize and watch other performances.

Festival types:

  • Small festivals: Local, for moderately famous artists

  • Large festivals: Exclusive maps, only for well-known bands

Recording

Bands with enough songs could record music:

  • At a home studio

  • In a professional recording studio

Recording produces an album that can be played at home and sold for profit. Players could also design the album cover and choose the songs included in the album.

Album quality depends on:

  • Individual skill

  • Group synergy

  • Band practice

  • Instrument quality

  • Studio sound technician

  • Studio equipment quality

Better studios cost more but produce better albums and more fame.

Merchandising

Bands could design their own merchandise, worn by NPCs:

  • T-shirts

  • Bracelets

  • Flags

  • Banners

  • Posters

  • Etc.

Fame System

Fame would rise or fall based on actions such as:

  • Concerts

  • Albums

  • Advertising

  • Relationships

  • Festivals

  • Interviews

High fame increases chances of better concerts and higher pay.

Concert Venues, Stadiums, and Arenas

Small and medium venues could exist in cities. Large venues would use separate maps due to high NPC numbers. Venues include:

Don’t forget the transverse flute.
This is the instrument I wanted my very first Zoi to master, unfortunately I had to make her a Piano master instead.
