A deeper transportation and travel system would make the inZOI world feel much more alive and realistic. Instead of instantly moving from one place to another, Zois could experience real journeys using trains, buses, planes, boats, and personal vehicles. Cities could have busy roads, public transport networks, airports, and stations that change depending on the time, weather, and events happening around them. Zois could travel to other cities for holidays, work, education, or adventures, creating memories from their journeys. Vehicles could also have realistic features like upgrades, maintenance, and different designs. This would make the world feel connected, bigger, and closer to real life.
You’re comparing the game to real life. Of course the buses should be able to move that’s possible. Vehicle upgrades are also possible . But you have very unrealistic dreams for the others.
I would also like improved public transport, but this suggestion appears much larger than the short description implies.
Functional buses, trains, planes and boats would each require routes, stations, schedules, passenger AI, boarding animations and travel transitions. Roads and transport networks dynamically reacting to time, weather and events would additionally require a major overhaul of the city simulation.
Combining every transport type, airports, intercity journeys (to cities, which aren’t even connected by train, bus etc.), dynamic traffic, vehicle maintenance and travel memories into one system seems far beyond a normal transportation update.
This would also likely be very hardware-intensive. Fully simulated transport networks would require constant traffic and passenger pathfinding, schedules, crowd AI, dynamic reactions to weather and events, and many additional vehicles and NPCs being rendered or tracked in the background.
inZOI is already demanding, so a city-wide transport overhaul would need careful limits and optimisation, especially for lower-end systems.
Smaller improvements such as moving buses, a few boardable routes or short travel animations seem much more realistic than fully simulating every form of transport at once.
I really like this idea, especially when it comes to airports. It would be fun to see a boarding sequence and, why not, a short flight cutscene between Dowon, Cahaya, and any future cities that might be added.
It would definitely feel more realistic than watching our Zois drive or take a bus from Paris to New York.
Since travel is already planned for the future, I think introducing an airport would make a lot of sense. At first, it could simply work as a rabbit hole, and then, later on, it could evolve into a fully functional location in a future update. I think that would be a great way to improve immersion while allowing the feature to grow over time.
I like the idea of participating in the journey process itself, but all these “everyday” moments like modernization, maintenance, and bustling stations and airports - it seems unnecessary to me. It would be enough to have just some small conditional place where our journey begins, but without constant activity there when our character isn’t traveling anywhere. Then the journey process itself becomes important, rather than rebuilding cities to create the appearance of lively activity, which doesn’t add anything of value in itself.
To be honest, I’m not sure. After all, at the airport it will be a process of waiting for the trip, not enjoying the trip itself. And if you still have to go through all kinds of customs controls - that’s just a complete nightmare. It annoys me in real life, and adding it to the game on top of that
What matters is not whether you actually travel between continents. What matters is how the process happens - whether it’s interesting or not
I have to admit I was a bit vague when I mentioned boarding. To be honest, even just having an airport as a rabbit hole with a short flight cutscene would be enough for me.
I just feel like a simple loading screen would break the immersion a bit, especially if they plan to introduce travel. After all, if they’re already looking at improving transportation, why not dream a little?
Either way, I trust the team. If they decide to add a proper travel system, I’m confident they’ll come up with something really enjoyable and won’t disappoint us.
