I was really excited about the new feature that pictures you make in photo mode land directly in your inventory with a picture frame and you can place them at home when you e.g. come back from vacation or a special event etc. And it is great as we now do not need to mess our texture folder full with pictures of our Zois which we then select for the picture frames in order to achieve the exact same effect. That was the only way to have family pictures in your house before the update.
But - there seems to be one downside. With the other method we were able to adjust the pattern scale of the picture and that way we were able to position the photo the way we want. Now it seems there is no option to do it anymore. If you click on the picture frame in build mode the “Edit Color and Material” icon is greyed out.
And unfortunately the taken photos are not made fit to the frame automatically. I had to throw away half of them after my Cahaya vacation. E.g. a photo of my Zois having dinner at the beach would rather be a landscape photo and on the picture frame both Zois are not even visible, only the table. It only works for pictures where the Zois are directly in the center of the picture and even then if they take too much room, their faces are partly cut off…
introduce also landscape photos and let us decide / change the format for the taken photo.
or if this is too complex, then at least let us adjust the picture as before
or introduce a separate photo mode where we can see what will be visible on the later picture frame, so that we can take the pictures in the right way.
I just tried it out. I think it only really works well when you turn on selfie mode. And you can’t change the frame or adjust its color either. Landscape orientation isn’t possible either. Yeah, this definitely still needs some work.
@Sephrenia Ah, ok! If you switch to selfie mode then the photo is captured and displayed correctly? But still probably only the center part would fit into the portrait format frame?
Yeah, that’s the problem—it only works in selfie mode, and landscape orientation isn’t even possible. They always have to be standing super close to each other for it to work at all.
Exactly! But the life of our Zois does not always fit into portrait mode. It would be really great if that could be adjusted in one of the possible ways. It could let you decide if you want a portrait or landscape photo and have 2 separate frames for these 2 options.
@Sephrenia here probably still only the old method works… make a picture then add it to your textures and then you can put it into the frame and adjust it.
I was really hoping this workaround would not be needed anymore with this update…
I absolutely agree. They should also let us choose a photo frame. At least those that are already in build mode should be an option.
I’ll be honest, when Kjun said the photos would also be in an album, I expected an actual album our Zoi can look at and not just a stack of photos in our inventory we can frame… At least I didn’t find any actual album after taking photos.
This album could give us the preview you mentioned and then let us “discard” the photo.
Best case scenario would’ve been if the picture frame is dynamic to the aspect ratio preset of the taken picture so that it always looks exactly like the taken photo
Thanks for supporting! I was also expecting more from this feature. And especially I thought the game would then make the photos fit to the frame or there would be more than one frame.
Yes, you’re right. There is no album in that sense. Only thing which happens is that you get the picture with the frame in your inventory. Also not ideal is the handling. When my Zoi came back from vacation with 25 photos she had to take every single one on a one by one basis out of the inventory and place it somewhere in the house. If it is handled that way then why not store these frames in the household inventory? That way we could easily place them in build mode instead of this “take out”, wait until the Zoi is holding it, then “put down”. And this over and over again. And it is messing up the already limited inventory…
This feature is sadly quite underwhelming so far… I really hope they’ll improve this. So far, it seems like we have to go back to the “texture” method, although the Build Mode also doesn’t really have small landscape stand frames either…
I wish they would be in the household inventory, because now I actually have this problem… xD
