@t.stella974 yes, this is unfortunately a new bug since the update.
I had the same just in the opposite way. My Zoi went to Cahaya to spend time diving and gathering marine collectibles and sold these during her trip. She actually earned money while there. After she came back the money was deducted to the previous amount.
I have reported this bug already here_ Zois funds are deducted to previous amount after returning from vacation - all money earned during vacation is gone
Also I think it is tied to this bug as well: Collection log items disappear after trip as the collection items gathered during vacation are not marked as completed once you go back and you have to find them again in your hometown in order to complete the collection.
This fits also to the contacts you are mentioning. It is simply like the vacation takes place in some kind of a parallel universe and nothing what happens there lasts after the vacation except the things you bring back with you in your inventory and changed relationships with the Zois you traveled with.
