Zois funds are deducted to previous amount after returning from vacation - all money earned during vacation is gone

  • Steps to Reproduce: When Zoi comes back from vacation the money which they earned during vacation is gone

  • Please provide the entire save file(s) from the date when the issue occurred.

  • Details:
    My Zoi went on vacation to Cahaya and as she is a diver she actually used her vacation to gather marine collectibles and sell them for profit. She left Bliss Bay with roughly 4k (and 3k after the costs for the vacation home was deducted). Here she is first day in Cahaya:

  • I did not capture the funds just before she left as I was not expecting anything like this to happen obviously but she had 10k by then. Here is a screenshot some days earlier where you can see that she had already more money during her vacation as what she came with:

  • And now she just arrived home in Bliss Bay and this is her money now:

  • It looks like the funds are back to what they were before she even spent the money for her vacation home and definitely all the money she earned selling the marine gatherables and treasures in Cahaya is gone.

  • This should not work this way. This breakes my whole story plot as she was going on a “workation” to earn money with diving. Why should this money be taken away. I will cheat it back for now but it would be great if this could be fixed!

@Mazikeen this happened only now with the new vacation feature. Before I did not see this either.

This is very demotivating… It seems like even though they reworked the vacation part, it still counts as “Everything stops in your home city”, even the profit gets removed… I didn’t travel much before the update. Was it already like this? This really needs to be fixed!

This might be an issue because of the newly introduced vacation system while the old one is still in inZOI’s code. I suspect that the game is “confused” which vacation is supposed to be temporary and simply lost your funds along the way =/

@Minthyuyu I did not notice this before but I also did not travel as much before. Now this is defintely happening. So for the moment - note your funds down before leaving, so you can cheat it back when you arrive home.

I really hope they fix it.

@HeinziDerHeld this could explain it. But they need to rework this. This should not happen with a normal vacation.

Honestly they should scrap the whole ‘pausing your gameplay’ while you’re on vacation. You should just be able to get time off work and school.

I wonder what would happen if you did the opposite - spend all your money on vacation? Rent yachts, hotels, eat at restaurants, and then come back home? Maybe the reverse option would work too - having fun on vacation for free? :rofl: :rofl: :rofl:

@Carnel exactly this thought came to my mind as well after seeing this :sweat_smile:

It seems like the vacation is handled somehow as a parallel universe. All what happens there has no effect on the Zois life in their hometown. This would also explain why the collections which are finalized while on vacation do not count as completed - this was reported here Collection log items disappear after trip

Only relatioship changes are kept. At least something…

I encountered two problems with the new vacation/travel system.

1. Money spent during vacation is not saved

My Zoi paid for her vacation and then made several purchases and expenses during the trip.

However, when she returned home, her money balance was exactly the same as it was before the vacation.

It seems that the money spent during the vacation was not actually deducted from her funds.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Travel to another city for vacation.

2. Spend money during the vacation.

3. Return to the home city.

4. Check the Zoi’s money balance.

Expected behavior:

The money spent during the vacation should remain deducted from the Zoi’s funds after returning home.

2. Phone contact disappears after meeting an NPC during vacation

During the same vacation, my Zoi met another Zoi/NPC. They spent time together and exchanged phone numbers.

However, after my Zoi returned home, the NPC’s phone number was no longer available in her contacts.

Because of this, I cannot:

- Call the NPC

- Invite the NPC to my Zoi’s home

- Schedule a date or meet-up

- Contact the NPC from my Zoi’s home city

Steps to reproduce:

1. Travel to another city for vacation.

2. Meet a new NPC/Zoi.

3. Interact with them and exchange phone numbers.

4. Return to your home city.

5. Open the phone/contact list.

6. The NPC’s contact/phone number is missing.

Expected behavior:

The NPC’s contact information should remain saved after returning home. My Zoi should be able to call them, invite them over, or arrange another meeting even if they live in another city.

Conclusion

Both problems appear to involve information or actions that happen during vacation not being properly preserved after returning home.

For a life simulation, it would be important for money, purchases, contacts, relationships, and other consequences of a vacation to persist after returning home.

Please investigate whether vacation data is being properly saved and transferred between cities.

@t.stella974 yes, this is unfortunately a new bug since the update.

I had the same just in the opposite way. My Zoi went to Cahaya to spend time diving and gathering marine collectibles and sold these during her trip. She actually earned money while there. After she came back the money was deducted to the previous amount.

Also I think it is tied to this bug as well: Collection log items disappear after trip as the collection items gathered during vacation are not marked as completed once you go back and you have to find them again in your hometown in order to complete the collection.

This fits also to the contacts you are mentioning. It is simply like the vacation takes place in some kind of a parallel universe and nothing what happens there lasts after the vacation except the things you bring back with you in your inventory and changed relationships with the Zois you traveled with.

Thank you for explaining this! I’ve noticed the same kind of issue, so it’s really helpful to know that other players are experiencing it too.

It definitely seems like something is going wrong with the vacation system and the game isn’t saving everything properly when you come back. Hopefully the developers can figure out what’s causing it.

I remember seeing in the patch notes it said that while on vacation, a new save file will be created so access to the previous save in the original city would be available. Maybe this is the reason, since technically you’re playing on a different save on vacation and when you return, you’re back on the previous save. I haven’t taken a vacation, so I don’t know what the save file looks like in the load screen but that could explain some of the issues I’ve seen reported about vacations.
