This question is about the new travel and/or vacation system implemented in the September update. In the patch notes it says:
- During vacation, a new save file will be created so that access to the previous save file in Zoi’s home city is not restricted.
I don’t quite understand what this means.
Could I send part of the family on vacation and have two parallel save files, where on one hand I can play with those who are on vacation and see their progress, and at the same time play (with the other save file) with those who stayed in the home city (and with the rest of the city) so that I could continue evolving in parallel as well?
Can I leave the travelers on vacation indefinitely and continue playing with the rest of the home city?
When I decide to end the vacation, would the travelers rejoin the new reality of the home city, just like that?
See if someone can clarify this for me. Of course it would be amazing if this could be done.
No worries
You can normally go on vacation and play your save file with the family you go with or also take other friends from your current city with you. While on vacation you cannot switch households back to the main city. You play the family with which you are on vacation. Your Zois age while you are on vacation if you have aging on. You can buy stuff and bring back home in your inventory and relationships with the Zois you brought with you can be progressed during vacation as well as skills etc.
Before you go on vacation you have to decide how long you want to stay. Maximum is 7 days. Then the game simply brings you back to your main city.
When you come back you are back in your main save file / city and everything is exactly as it was before, just some days have passed.
But be aware of 2 current bugs with this:
-
your Zois funds do not change. When you come back you have exactly the same amount as before: Zois funds are deducted to previous amount after returning from vacation - all money earned during vacation is gone
-
If you finish your collection log during vacation the items you found there seem to not be recognized correctly once you are back and you have to find these again when back to finalize your collection: Collection log items disappear after trip
No, look, I already knew that. It barely changes anything from how it was before the update. What I’m asking is whether I can leave the ones who are on vacation in their vacation spot and play with the ones who haven’t gone on vacation (with the whole home city) and keep progressing while the ones on vacation stay in the vacation spot.
In the patch notes it says a new save file will be created “so that the previous save file in the home city is not restricted”
Not being restricted seems to indicate that it can be used in parallel with the vacation save, which seems odd to me. I tried it yesterday, but once I got to Chahaya I didn’t see a new save file being generated and I didn’t dare make a save to see what would happen. By the way, Chahaya was unplayable — the textures weren’t loading and everything appeared blurry and shapeless, when just before the new patch I was there on vacation and everything worked perfectly. Partly because of that, I didn’t dare make a save and I went back to the backup save I had made before trying things out.
@Leo_Kato No, unfortunately you cannot switch back to your main city to play other household members or other families while you go on vacation. You cannot leave the ones who are on vacation there and continue to play the other ones. You have to play the ones who are on vacation until they come back and then you can play with the entire city and the others who stayed home again.
The difference to how it was before the patch is that you cannot move to the city where you go for vacation. Before you had to buy a house or a property and you were able to play with the entire Cahaya city when there, meaning switching to other households etc. Now you have only your hotel room or your guest house and you are not considered a citizen.
How they exactly create the new save file I cannot tell but as said seems that the city is left exactly as it was before you leave, even your money is the same as when you left - all that you have spent during vacation is not reducted. So maybe it is meant that way, that your vacation time is kind of a separate save and does not affect your main city save at all.
But don’t be afraid to save while you are on vacation. I did that in Cahaya and had no issues.
And the issue with the entire city being blurry: I had the same but when I came back. Bliss Bay looked like this. But then I saved and loaded the save again and all was normal again. So maybe try to save when you arrive if everything is blurry and load again. Then hopefully all should look normal again.
