So, I have been looking into testing a theory in game if increasing the amount of zois manually via adding them to the families in the city would increase the amount of zois you see in game. I tested this with Bliss Bay by first counting the amount of zois amongst the npcs, adding enough zois to get to 100, and then adding enough to get to 150. I am seeing a little improvement (I have the population set to maximum in the city settings and the amount of zois set to unlimited in settings), but I am wondering if this is actually working or if I just so happened to more zois a little bit by coincidence. Does adding more zois actually help? Is the amount of zois we see near us affected by how big the map is? Is there a cap on how many zois we naturally see in a given place in game (without making an event or anything)?
Hello,
Yes, creating multiple Zois and placing them in a city can indeed increase the visible population density, but it does not directly increase the number of autonomous NPCs wandering the streets.
I have set the population in the city settings to the absolute minimum and have moved out all the NPC families and there are still enough NPS out and about so the venues don’t look empty.
The only screenshot I can find right now is from the cafe at the art gallery in Dowon which is huge, but in every direction I looked, there were Zois doing their stuff. There were also some watching the exhibtion, more in the cafe to the left and outside, at the park next to the gallery, at the fleamarket nearby and the strets around are busy too. All at the same time while my Zois were at the cafe.
I haven’t been to Bliss Bay yet but I have a household at Cahaya and there are more than enough Zois around even though I set the population there to the minimum too (but I haven’t moved out the households (yet)).
It’s not stuffed and bustling but more than enough to make the city look alive.
There were people in the discord who were discussing about the club or like how it seems in other places that it doesnt seem like there are as many zois as there should be. I do like the population settings of setting Cahaya to the highest. Personally, I am not so bothered. I was asking because I was curious as well as others on the discord.
