New Menu Option: Timekeeping.

[ I’d like to suggest a “time keeping” tab in the menu. ]

Here’s what this would allow :

  • Adjust number of Days in a Year (Default is 1, like now).
  • Adjust length of Seasons (in Days, Default is 7).
  • Adjust length of a pregnancy trimester (in Days, Default is 1).

Then also an option for the Age groups length in years (a popular demand since June 13th patch, or 0.20)
( Default values used below are those from that same patch, which are ridiculous to many players. )

  • Beginning age of Toddlers (Default is 4)
  • Beginning age of Children (Default is 10)
  • Beginning age of Adolescents (Default is 20)
  • Beginning age of Teenagers (Default is 25)
  • Beginning age of Young Adult (Default is 40)
  • Beginning age of Adults (Default is 70)
  • Beginning age of Middle-Age (Default is 80)
  • Beginning age of Seniors (Default is 90)

Now this would allow some pretty wild configurations.
A real life configuration for this would be 12 days in a year, 3 days per season and for a pregnancy trimester,
Also, age groups lengths more representative of their RL equivalent (say 2-4-12-16-20-32-52-67), but ppl could fill whatever they want.
Absolute freedom depending on playstyle and preferences.

Also for the age groups, it is SUPER IMPORTANT to apply those change at prorata.
Meaning that if you have a character right now in a game who is mid-way through young adult (Age: 55), and you change the age groups so that Young adult becomes 20-31 (12 days), the character would automatically adjust to being 25, which is also mid-way in that same age group.
Failure to adjust at prorata means that each change would ruin games and pre–generated NPCs/NPC families in all maps, rendering the change as bad as the current “Realistic Aging Mod” for that.
Also the game should auto-adjust death chance for senior at prorata (the older, the more chance).

Now this is a merging of TWO suggestions often put on the Discord, the timekeeping (first part) and giving us control of the age groups (second part).
There is no need to implement both at the same time, but since we are talking about a new menu tab in the options of the game in the lobby, I figured I would throw both of them here.

Oh yes, we need to be able to adjust age in the game! I just created a couple of Adults and got them pregnant. I was thinking the old timelines, Adult starting in their 30s. Now I look at this and I’m terrified: By the time the kid gets to Adolescent they will get to Seniors (?!). I appreciate the fact that Young Adult stage is so long now because it’s probably the most favourite one (we’re all young adults no matter the actual number, right? xD) but come on! 40 days to have your child get to adulthood and leave the house? And only 20 days from finishing being YA to being a Senior? I like your suggestion! And honestly, for now, while they’re working on it, I’d be OK with just an AgeUp/Down cheat. There’s no way I can stand having a minor at home for 40 in-game days XD And I will probably have them stop aging with the cheat then because I was thinking they’d reach the Middle-Age when the kid gets to Ado and would STAY THERE at least until it’s YA.

I really like this idea and like that you mentioned being able to manually adjust age groups and length of pregnancies. Because I’ve always hoped that’s something we’ll eventually get but I seen mods come out for it quicker. Cause I’d love to make one of the worlds snow most of the time–which brings my question if you set one season to be 0 in value and say autumn and winter to only have values, would this effect the game? With the suggestions you’re proposing.

I actually have a mod to make the pregnancies (because I’m playing on 24 hr mode) to be 9 months so it’s interesting you mentioned this because I think other players would rather have this option too, than one set timer, where they’d be like it’s too long or short.

I had not given thought about “eternal seasons”.
If the Devs want to code in that the value “0” for seasons means “Never Changes” then I would be fine with it personally.

I plan to run mine with seasons of 3 days myself to simulate Real Life, but no harm in having more options.

It kind of sucks knowing that this is level of customization is possible but it’s just not implemented and yet we can’t make our own worlds :confused:

Here’s an example of (at least partially) such a menu could look like.
There would be more to it, like the missing age groups and the length of those items in the first part of my original post.
It’s more as a general idea of looks and would have to be reformatted to fit the Inzoi menu option pages.

Yes, I’d love to get such a life stage menu implemented anytime soon too. If the devs need some more time to adjust the game’s various systems to such a major change, they could give us life stage cheats. Then we’d be able to turn aging off in general and simply let each Zoi age individually with said cheat. That’d make my rotational gameplay a lot easier to organize.
