Aging and Seasons

I would love to see more flexibility regarding aging speed and season length.

Currently, Zois seem to age quite quickly, and seasons change rather fast as well, which makes storytelling and long-term gameplay feel rushed.

It would be great to have adjustable lifespan settings (short / normal / long or custom) and customizable season length, similar to other life simulation games.

This would greatly improve pacing and player experience.

I second this

I actually suggested something like this a few months ago… I totally agree.

Here’s my post about it, if you wanna check it out/comment !

Yes, I’d like this too. By the way, you can already adjust the season length using cheats. Use setSeasonLength [days]

I’m also using cheats, both for aging and for the duration of seasons.

Did they fix the bug where you can change the length of the seasons with that cheat…
But the temperature curve does not follow your new season length ?

Because last I tried this in Bliss Bay, it was winter weather in the middle of summer and all seasons were de-synchronised after a while… And once they get that way you can’t fix it without restarting a new game.

So I never used the cheat again as it was worthless to me.

I didn’t know there was a cheat for aging. Does it turn off aging or extends the length of days for zois

The cheat is “stopAging [true/false]” and it stops aging for the active Zoi completely.

Oh, I don’t know it’s bugged. I didn’t try this yet, just know it’s possible. Hope devs fix this

Can turn off ageing in the options

I always have aging turned off in options and use the cheat aswell. Idk why there is a cheat and a setting, seems like it’d be one or the other, but maybe beings it is still early access maybe we need both to insure we don’t age.

However I haven’t found a way to age up a child with keeping my adults from becoming elderly, hopefully we can get some type of option to age up a single zoi without waiting and aging all zois :+1:

It’s convenient that there’s both the option and the cheat.

I don’t age all family members in the same way, otherwise the parents get old too quickly. So I enable aging for the family but then use stopAging for those who shouldn’t age :slightly_smiling_face:

Of course, the best thing would be to be able to decide how many days each life stage lasts, so I wouldn’t have to think about who needs the cheat and who doesn’t.

For now it has always worked, but let’s remember that the cheat must be set for every Sim, it doesn’t work for the whole family.

I thought stopaging true kept all zois in the household from aging, I haven’t seen anything saying to apply this to their ID

The stopaging cheat applies for your active Zoi only. That’s why I use it exactly like @mialuce66 described. Once a Zoi of my households ages up to Young Adult, I apply the cheat to him/her/them. This keeps my families stable and I can safely discover every Zoi’s life, needs and wants without being afraid of them dying.

Now I’m becoming confused, do we select each zoi in household and type stopaging true or is there another cheat that includes ID#, and then what about the setting aging turned off…

This was very simple in Sims with a setting all sims aging was off, then we’d bake a Birthday cake and age up whoever we wanted

Because you want to stop SPECIFIC ZOIS and not the entire family or entire town.
The cheat is absolutely mandatory for me, it revolutionized my gameplay.
Even a doughnut for immortality would not be as useful (would be expensive for one).

the cheat is the better option here for specific zois.

sounds sweet, I have no idea how to set the cheat to one zoi and not another at the same time tho lol

Switch to the zoi you wanna freeze.
CTRL-SHIFT-C
Stopaging true/false

It is permanent until reactivated.

ah, so we don’t have to type in the cheat every time we restart the game?

Exactly. The state persists and is saved on a per zoi basis.

Like if you want your grandpas/grandmas to live long retirement, make them immortal at like 95 (they are immune to death until 95, chances to die start after) and they will live for decades or until you remove their stopaging status.
