Yeah, unfortunately, you don’t really grasp the scale of the problem until you step into the “big internet.” Honestly, I was more or less calm while people were mentioning PS5/Pro because technically, UE5 runs even better on consoles than on PC. They have a unified RDNA architecture and provide access to low-level APIs, which makes load distribution easier by default (meaning fewer bottlenecks).
Black Myth Wukong, Lords of the Fallen, RoboCop Rogue City, Hellblade 2, Silent Hill 2 Remake, Stalker 2, The Finals, The Matrix Awakens… TBA / The Blood of Dawnwalker and long-awaited The Witcher 4…
But then come the players who bought inZOI on a Mac with an M1 chip - even though support for the features that make all this possible on our machines (Nanite Virtualized Geometry and Virtual Shadow Maps) only starts with M2.
They allow the engine to render thousands of high-poly instances without relying on traditional LOD models or disabling shadows, and they do so with minimal performance cost.
Technically, most PCs can run Nanite but only as a fallback mesh LOD conversion (Intel HD/UHD are not supported). But it’s fair to say that full support with Virtual Shadow Maps begins with the RTX 30xx series / Shader Model 6.6 atomics.
I didn’t mean 4 versions. I meant two versions per city, one big and packed for good computers, one for potato mode. Still, it’s not really something I find desirable, but I find it hard to imagine Bliss Bay sized down.
Since I believe we are going to be able to test small cities in the October update, as per what was said in the AMA, I will wait to see the vibe and how it all works.
And what’s wrong with console?! Genuinely? They’re literally made for gaming! Especially with how ps5 was boasted so much about how it’s gonna push the limits for gaming. Because numerous games using UE5 run perfectly fine on there. It seems like pc players want to keep inzoi to pc only and screw everyone else. Not everyone can afford a new pc and not everyone likes to game on them either. Having it on console shouldn’t be seen as some horrible thing. Luckily I have a gaming laptop and the ps5 but I prefer to play inzoi on my laptop and everything else on console
I was noticing that group chat happening randomly with people I didn’t initiate a conversation with or wanted my zoi to talk with. It’s a bit annoying because I would like to manually click who to have a conversation with instead. And if a another random person came up it’d be nice to have an indication hover over their head ‘introducing’ themselves saying ‘Hey how’s everyone doing? I’m Stacy”.
I am probably going to also mention this on the discord as well idk if it will help make a difference in the devs decision but at least they’ll know we all want the old system and features back.
My impression is that this game should target PS5/Pro specifications to offer the most accessible option for gamers (it’s more player-friendly, opens up more room for game expansion, and generally offers a better baseline).
I am gonna take this as a “in the middle” between what we were discussing earlier as this is basically what I was meaning.
I did a quick Google of what is the gpu equivalent of PS5 and it estimating 3070. That sits right on the medium and recommended range of things.
What i am getting from people is this:
One side of people dont want the developers to decrease the quality/or graphics performance of the game to cater to lower end hardware
On the other side, people want to see more optimization for the minimum/medium level hardware for longevity and more stable gameplay
Continuing the previous bulletpoint sentiment but making a separate one as this is slightly separate, some people want/hope for an expansion for accessibility to lower end hardware (and I am going to also add for future reference expansion to maybe other consoles in the future)
Many people are saying that they hope the game doesnt become another sims and is voicing that they want inZOI to move forward into its own unique identity
So here is where I hope we can agree:
Better optimization for console in the future
Furthermore better optimization for all levels as currently defined by specs. Meaning smooth-ish/playable gameplay on lowest settings for the 2060 (i talking like ~45 fps)
In the process of optimization, it doesnt come at a huge loss to high end (depending on method of optimization, maybe there is a little. Idk. This to be probably discussed)
inZOI start to look back at what some of the more original ideas or concepts were and work towards being more independent/unique from Sims
