In retrospect, seems like the OG franchise depends* a lot on xpacs/dlcs, creating a new world is* the primary way to get that “new game” sense of excitement - at least that is how I feel about my personal experience over the years. My interest peaks then wanes, cycle repeat, ad nauseum. Sometimes a year+ long gap in between. Shouldn’t some variety just BE part of the game and be included in the initial purchase price.
Also, sims4 began selling on CDs so the mindset was made for them…but today, it is online only anyway and maintenance updates are just a way of life. Let’s keep re-thinking things!
WHAT IF each “open world” in inZOI had a designated area that rotated events/activities? They could be seasonal, or based on various hobbies, whatever. They could be week long events OR static but swap out every few weeks/months. And have a few CAZ items, too, bc I feel like that is low-hanging fruit for developers AND always such crowd pleasers.
Variety is the spice of a life sim, amirite?
PLEASE WOO US, KRAFTON - we are leaving a long-term relationship.
This is not a well thought out idea, I assure you, LOL.
BUT what I am sure of is that there needs to be a better way to keep players’ interest without forcing the players to purchase anything every 6-9 months. Ensuring we stay engaged with a similar excitement between xpacs. THIS is a selling point the other can’t do…well, at least not well, given the mechanics of the game. That is how it seems but I defer to those more familiar with the 0s and 1s.
Similar to the addition of “maker spaces” way back when in the OG but not as clunky. And automation is key - no stress for the player bc we just wanna have fun. Maybe somewhat customizable?
Or have options to choose from, like how in sims4 you can select which season to start a game, only the options would be something like “carnival” or “fashion week” or “celebration of whatever season” or “insert your ideas here.” ![]()
