Vertical Object Height Adjustment (Usable with Alt-Key Free Placement)

The 3D user-creation feature is amazing for making unique furniture. However, it currently has a major limitation: user-created items (like bookshelves, shelves, and desks) do not have “slots” for placing other objects on them.

For example, when a user creates a beautiful, empty bookshelf, we have no way to decorate it. All the books and decor items we try to place just stay on the floor.

I understand that making all 3D user-creations dynamically “slottable” is probably very difficult.

A much better and more flexible solution, which is used in The Sims 4, is to give players manual control over an object’s vertical height.

How this feature would work:

  1. A player picks up an object (e.g., a book).

  2. They use a new hotkey (e.g., 9/0 keys) to raise the object vertically to the height of the desired shelf.

  3. While holding the object at that height, they press the ‘Alt’ key (for free placement).

  4. This would allow them to slide the “floating” book perfectly into the empty shelf. Visually, it would look like it’s sitting on the shelf.

Currently, inZOI has the fantastic ‘Alt’ key for free placement, but we cannot change an object’s height. This means all our decor is stuck on the floor, and our beautiful custom-made bookshelves and tables remain empty.

Adding this one feature—manual height adjustment—would unlock incredible creative freedom for all builders and make the 3D user-creation feature 100x more valuable

I would love it. I think it would take building to another level, I would love to see how builder use it to decorate and enhance their creations. I hope this is on the devs minds and comes to use with the object resizing update, or not long after!
